Missing item in tool kit

Hi folks - I have an '88 911 and my tool kit seems to be missing one item (the one pointed by the red arrow) ... I cant find what it is because that items does not have a part number in the Porsche Catalog.

Any idea what it is ?

Thx !

Michel,
I just happen to have one of those, if you need it. From a 87, I believe.
$40 + shipping. Contact me if interested.
regards,
al

it is the rear tow hook that fits into the plugged hole on the driver side rear bumper on US 911s. non-US cars use a screw-in hook. someone is usually selling them in the FS section.

Al, I will inspect the hole under the bumper and see if I need it (or if it is only for 964's) and will recontact you if needed (I am away from home and will return in one week).

Cheers & thanks everybody for the overwhelming response !

Michel,

I just went and looked at my rear bumper on my 89 (non US) 911 and there is no provision for a tow hook on my bumper and that is most likely why i don't have one in my tool kit.

Don't think you need one for your car ... I installed a Rennline tow hook on the front bumper and will probably do the same for the rear eventually ...

Cheers !
Phil

Hi Phil,

Since that tow eye was illustrated but not numbered in 87-89 911 parts list, it probably is a generic image also used for other years parts list. Brief search on the net also shows 1988 tool kit without it.

I am quite happy to read that you do not have it either (nor any place to hook it) because I had some concern that if that item was missing, it could be because it has been used at some time in a previous life ...

Thx for your help ! Cant wait the spring to drive my new toy in the Laurentides !

Michel

Michel,

I beilieve your '88 has a built in tow hook up under the right side of the rear bumper (at least my '88 does so I assume yours would too). So...no tow hook in the tool kit.

Tow Hook.

Our '86 has the tow hook in the tool kit.

Also, the owner's manual towing instructions indicates the use of the tow hook.

Thanks guys, I will have a look at the rear bumper and owners manual when I go back home
: )

Salut Phil, thank you for the invitation to Mont Tremblant !

This new baby is a Christmas gift to myself from myself (purchased in Atlanta) and I wanna take the time to learn driving it so I do not really have racing plans for the moment (plus I would probably die if there was even a scratch on it !), but I sure would like to be present at the event ! Let's keep in touch !

A plus !
