Love it and it is inspiring.....and the new spray system is definitely something I need to get into. I have a Binks HVLP and a smaller SATA, both will get the new bag system.

Stunning Hammer Work

Those rear flares are stunning. Excellent work. Reminiscent of a leggy blonde in a full length gown with a long slit up the side.

You're getting kinda good at this stuff.

Hi Thorsten, your car looks great! Do you have any more pics? How did you handle the front bulkhead issue?

The car has been on the back burner while I did a mechanical restoration on my ST.

911ST update 10/24

But I finally got back to work on the SC yesterday and got everything block sanded. The surface is getting really close to flat now. I'll get 4 more coats of primer on this week and sand everything to 600g wet and then it should be ready for paint!

I'll try to keep the thread updated now that I'm starting to see some progress again.

Chris, thank you for the update.

I have welded in a front panel from a 69- 73 car into my 80 SC...that was a lot of work.

The car had several rust problems that I had to fix in the last months.

I am also a follower of your other thread, the blue ST is the "template" for my project- I love this car.

Last week I have bough a set of four steel ST fender extensions. They will be welded in in a few months, probably the car will be ready in two or three years....

I don't want to hijack your thread, I will post more fotos asap in a separate one.

Thorsten

Paint prep work is one of those things that can take a TON of time but you don't really have anything to show for it...at least that can be shown in photos.

You will have to take my word for it... All the countless hours of sanding have finally paid off and rewarded me with a silky smooth, paint ready surface

I'm lucky enough to have a state of the art booth at my disposal so I trailered the car down to the shop today and tomorrow is the big day for PAINT!!! Ill get a lot more photos of the process and the final result.

Then sort out the mechanicals and off for interior work. Finally some light at the end of the tunnel!

The car and hood are in one booth and we get all the loose parts arranged in the second booth. Who woulda thought you needed TWO booths?!?! But, WOW, it is handy!

Block sanded to perfection!

Two coats of color, which covered very well! And then we move directly to the clear coat. Again, two heavy coats. The last coat of clear went on so nice that my finish polishing etc is almost non-existent!

Chris,
That color is just right. I can't wait to see this one. I like the grey ones.

I remember seeing this car in the "Cars For Sale". It has come a long way!

It is looking great. Looking forward to seeing the car finished.

Fantastic work - very well done! Can't wait to see the final product - I really love the Long Hood look, especially without the tin-worm issues
