since 1991, it would look like this. Car will undergo a thorough restoration over the next few years and will include new floors, inner and outer rockers, front clip, and center tunnel at a minimum. New doors, front fenders as well. Longitudinals look surprising good, but you never know.

I love the early "S" cars but damn.... that is a hella lot of rust. It kinda reminds me of my 356 that I bailed on.

Why, man, because it's an S? All that thin stuff way back in the rear sub frame has got to be toast. I don't know if they even make enough replacement parts for a job like that. You're gonna be buying some serious metal working tools would be my bet.

I wish Milt! By the time I'm able to earnestly start on it, might be a possibility.

I've now parted and cut up a 71 coupe, 70 and 73 Targa over the past few years and have a good feel for what I'll need and how I'll be able to find it. One sad note is that I just cut up a perfect 73 tunnel for friend who needed the pipe outlets on the end.

And I did say years. This car won't see the road until 2013 at the earliest. I can tell you that the back seats are very good. the vertical in front of them is thin though. the windshield tray is perfect as well as as the rear deck. if the longitudinals were gone, I'd consider parting it or selling to someone more foolish than myself, but as I said, they look pretty good.

But to answer your question, yes. This is probably the only Velvet Green 69S Targa on the planet, and that's worth saving. And more evidence (see below) for why it's worth saving. When was the last time you saw a 69 anything with original sticker, etc.

My plan is simple: strip the rest of it, especially to add to my CAD plating order for the E and get the motor out to take the stress out of the rear of the body...tuck that away until I rebuild it (hah!) or perhaps Mr. Kinder will, and then make a list of what I'll need just to get the unibody back together. After that it's about finding the right donor car for some pieces, Restoration Design others.








I sure am glad I kept the pedal cluster from the 73!

Shaun, you are one steely eyed missile man for taking this project on. Porsche should really recognize folks like you and others on this board that pull off these incredible saves -- a badge of honor or something for preserving Zuffenhausen's finest.

One question: On the window sticker, is the "Self-leveling Front Supension" otherwise known as the 911E-type hydropneumatic suspension? Wouldn't that be kind of an unusual thing on an S?
