Got a new project. Today I flushed the brakes, adjusted the ride height, and swapped the wheels for some Fuchs with Toyo R888's. I also ditched the sugar scoops for some H4's. still need to figure out the headlights because they are flickering between brights and lo beams, and the low beams are weak.

Before

After

Thanks, the pictures hide a lot of flaws! They are 225 front, 245 rear, on 16*7&8" wheels.

The car looks great with the black Fuchs and the H4.

The headlight issue could be fixed with a set of headlight relay.

Cheers

Agree. Also could be in the steering column dimming switch.

Sometimes the stalk can be mended (tabs/contacts re-bent) or cleaned instead of replacing. There are more than a few threads on the matter.

Replacing the turn signal stalk might be an option.

JoeBob, I sent out the notebook and money clip. Enjoy!

Pic taken a few days ago, but my car finally has heat! Maybe. Still haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

I had the same problem with my '86 930 except it wasn't flickering between high and lows, it was just the highs coming on with the lows.

Found a thread here on adjusting the high beam contacts on the turnsignal stalk. Problem solved.

Rewired the running lights to be on all the time with the ignition key. It's the red wires going from fuses 4-6 on fuse block 1 to fuses 5 and 6 on fuse block 2.

Next upgrade for this will be to add a relay to keep the light current from the ignition switch.

Interested in more information on your "running lights" configuration. Have you posted a more extensive description somewhere on the forum?

Here's the thread that I used to re-wire the running lights to be on all the time.

Running/Park Lights On All the Time, and Off with Key

Here's the schematics of what Scot did in the above thread. The schematics are for my '86 930 although re-powering from F3 in Fuse Panel 1 is incorrect for the 930. On the 930 F4-F6 on fuse panel 1 were the ignition-switched power. On Scot's 911, this was F3. I would recommend looking at your car's fuse layout for the switched power. I verified mine with a voltmeter before rewiring.

For safety, ALWAYS remove the negative battery lead before working on the fuse panels.

This is how the car is wired from the factory.

Here's the re-wired running lights running off of the ignition switch instead of the light switch. With this simple mod, you will lose the Euro-Park feature.

I reinstalled my speedo/odometer after sending it to North Hollywood because the odometer had stopped working. Took it for a short drive to top off the gas, get some milk for my wife, and make sure the odometer worked. The gas station attendant asked me how much he would have to pay me to buy the car. The WaWa (local convenience store) clerk told me my car is his dream car, and a guy in the parking lot asked me what year the car was and then started screaming, "That's so cool! That car is so cool!" Was a good 10 min drive!

Hi Jerry,
With your LED lights, do you think a relay is needed? Seems like minimal current through the ignition switch.
Thanks,
Dave
