Repaired some damage from some ham-fisted wrecker driver.

Nothing really. I needed to move the car to get some junk out of the garage. And you know what it's like; it's bad for the car to just drive it out of the garage and stop. So I aimlessly drove around for a couple of hours.

What size battery did you get H6 or H7? I switched to the H6 and it was so much easier to install especially with my quick battery disconnect nearby.

Used #00 then #0000 stainless steel wool pads to remove the tarnish and pitting on the front and rear latch assemblies, door striker plates, and the fuel sender cover. Treated the exposed metal with Gibbs'. The SS pads took off the old zinc plating, but it has that vintage-y, oiled bare metal look which i kinda prefer.

Installed prototipo. Fully expected to hate the smaller size but I really love it. Shoulda put it on 12 years ago.

Have a 917 gas pedal coming in a couple days and looking forward to seeing how I like that mod

Next up, F & R rotors and brake hoses, suspension bushings, ball joints, turbo tie rods and seats recovered. Slowly but surely

Finished replacing the tag lights. Some PO replaced the original deck lid with a late ‘60’s 911T. The wires were cut at the hinge. The tag lights were toast, they were rusted and beyond restoration. I replaced the lights and installed new wires. I covered the wires in sleeving. It went well. Only thing I learned was you should remove letters from the deck lid “Porsche” emblem to give you clearance. The letter studs interfere with sliding the light in place.

I think the leather horn button would compliment your interior!

Most of this was done yesterday but part of it has continued into today. Replaced the oil level sensor gasket and cleaned the oil level sensor. Gauge is rock steady now and no more leaks.
Also replaced the accelerator rod bushings. Two were easy. The one under the parking brake lever was not as easy. Got the new bushing in and as I was getting the parking brake lever back in place, the driver's side cable came off the yoke. I couldn't get the cable back on and figured that I may have to loosen the cable where it attaches to the hub.

Could you post some more pics of your coco mats? Have the same interior and will be ordering a set of the coco’s for it. Have a set in the 2015 Volt of the same pattern. But the interior is a light sand color, not dark. I also installed a set in the wifeys CRV. Those things are worth every $$$$.

Also, what cup holder are you sporting.

Thanks
Bugs

What did you do to your 911 today?

I scored a vintage Nardi wood steering wheel for our SC(4/79 date stamp), plastic bag and original box(rough shape). Of all places, an antique shop in Prescott, AZ.

Rebuilt the front calipers, replaced the flex lines and repacked the front wheel bearings. RF was dragging a bit. Will do the rears when I get around to it...

Installed the accelerator pedal bushings in the pedal cluster. The original ones were completely missing. Those, along with the accelerator rod bushings I installed the other day, have transformed how the car drives. Throttle response is so much better and I am now able to get WOT. Fun!
