3.0 RS just about done
It's only taken 3 months. But I'm just about finished. Going to let the paint cure another couple weeks, then I'll put on the Carrera script.
Still needs to be lowered and corned weighted. And don't have enough miles on the new Bilstein sports on the rear. Here's the JPEGS. What do you think. A little bright for the pictures tonight.

wow, it's amazing how similar your car is to mine. I'm currently installing a 3.0 in place of a 2.0E. I've got a ducktail and black center fuchs but I'm gonna install a turbo tail once it's painted.
My Car Needless to say NICE car ![]() Last edited by A Quiet Boom; 07-20-2002 at 09:52 PM.. |

Beautiful! The decals will look great on it.
(You might want to consider lowering it a little bit more, if it's going in for alignment/suspension work anyway.)

No JP, all my cars are white at this time. Every Porsche I've ever owned has been white. I think it must be from watching Peter Gregg at PIR as a kid. ( My Auto-Cross # is 59 )
Jack, the best I can tell is the PO set the ride height with worn out rear shocks. So when I put on the new Bilstein Sports it through it out of wak. The problem is, the best place to take it is Rennsport Systems in Portland 600 miles away. So it will have to wait. Plus I want the Bilsteins to settle in again, the drive train has been out for 3 months. But when I do, I'm going with Smart Racing bars and Sanders T-Bars. I'm going to put the cooler in the nose also. But yesterday sporting around, stopping and starting, never over 200 so not too bad. I'm finally getting to use my short gear box that I had Rennsport Systems build for me. Holy Smoly ...........this is a hoot. It gets to 100 mph rapidily. The pull from 3000k to the limiter is awesome. Off to go auto-crossing. Not a good start. Found wheel weights sitting on the pad after I washed the car. They painted the inside of the wheels also. I should have scuffed them up. So I’ll have to drive rather then fly to Missoula maybe. We’ll see how bumpy it is. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks everyone for the compliments. The car was a 20 footer, now it's a 5 footer. LOL.
It performed perfectly today. As for the operator. That's another story. RE-71's at 90 ambient. Started at 32F/36R cold. What a mess. S*** they went to 36/40. Thought I was driving a snow plow. Nasty push. Never had that before in a 911. Don't know if the Quaiffe dorked me up too. I had a mess. When I got them down to 29/34. They finally started going straight. I'll post next week. When I get brave enough to put on the decal. I'm REAL anal when it comes to straight/horizontal. I do have the decal installing spray. Only bad news. A little TOO much fiberglass on the left front bumper inside the wheel well. Tire rubbed on it till it wore it off. So I'll trim both sides to match. ![]() ![]() If you look close at the sunroof. Not flat. Tryed to used a shorten front seal for the rear I didn't order. Doesn't Work. Too fat. Won't push up.

SWEEEEEEEEET!!!!
that is one good looking car!!! I love the old (older? LOL) cars.... When you corner balance the car dont be so swayed by the hieght to the fender lips.. every car is different jus make sure you have correct corner weights, and dont sweat if you have some different gaps wheel to wheel

Cary:
When my car grows up it wants to be just like yours, only in black ![]() The workmanship is outstanding, the result is obvious. When you get that thing lowered it will handle like it is on rails. I have been through the rear hieght adjustment, so maybe I can help you with that, seeing that you guided me through the conversion. How's the 914 block??

Talk about wide open spaces! It looks like the folks next door don't bother you when you're warming it up.
You need one of those Porsche tractors to go with it. Paint it white too.

Body parts
Okay, Cary: I know what mods you made on the body (I think). I looked up gt racing's website. Still and all, the car looks fantastic! Any engine mods, however?

dd74........basically. GT- Racing RSR SC narrow body bumpers. Found a Factory ( metal inner frame ) 75 A/C Turbo tail. Removed the deco rockers panels and filled the holes. Removed the SC style mirrors and welded in the BIG holes. Bought 74-75 style mirrors and had them painted to match the body. Prepped the body for paint. Then trailered it to the paint shop. He shot it with PPG base coat clear coat.
This was my first attempt at body work. Really enjoyed it. The more I look at the car, the more flaws I find in my workmanship. But I didn't color sand the color coats. Or cut and polish the clear coats. This is a driver. But in total, I spent about $3000. Not counting the Fuchs, paint and polish. We don't want to talk about that. $$$. It turned out just the way I wanted it to. Not quite finished. Safety Devices roll bar. RSA door panels. Then a B&B oil cooler in the front bumper.

dd74........no engine mods........yet.
I spent all my saved up lunch money on the gear box. I had Rennsport Systems in Portland rebuild the gear box. Shorted up 2, 3 & 4. OHHHHHHHH baby. Instant grunt. When you shift anywhere over 4500, NO LAG and its BEGGING for more right foot. Espesically 3rd to 4th. Tossed in a LSD. To keep me hooked up. If I modify it. I will go Randy Wells route. Perfect rebuild. Have the heads cleaned up by Rennsport Systems. Then just SSI's, RS chip and a mass air flow sensor. Should get me in the 240 hp range. Then get her down under 2300lbs. After riding in the GT- 2, there isn't anything I could do that engine to make it GO FAST. ![]() ![]()
