Facelift and Upgrade for CIS Primer

I have just uploaded a major makeover to the CIS Primer. Some pages may still need some minor mods, but all the Menu Items should have a link to a new page, some with previously posted info, some with new info.

The old URL is still valid:

911 CIS Primer - Index

There is newly posted info on the Lambda system, and I hope to have new info to add when I can get it together.

I will be filling in with more info over the next weeks. Right now I need a break.

Thank you, Jim.

I am looking forward to going through it.

How much time did the upgrade take?

Several Hours

On and off, since last December. No record of hours spent, but way more than a few. Especially if you count all those hours slaving over a hot Lambda ECU on the workbench with all those voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, dwell meter, duty cycle meter and old oscilloscope. And don't forget the hot soldering iron.

Outstanding effort. Thanks again.

If I was able to do what you did, I would have kept a beer count. :-)

Jim, great job!

I think you just obsoleted my CIS for Dummies thread.

One question. On the Lambda CIS description page you say that the Lambda system does not have a vacuum connection for the WUR. I have an '83 with type -090 WUR and it does have a vac line. So is that correct?

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

Tim,

Are you sure? Are we talking the same WUR-090 you sent me? The WUR-090 for '81-'83SC's (US models) have no vacuum port. Could you post picture of the said WUR? Thanks.

Tony,

Yep, I'm sure. I even went to the car to double check. I am on my phone now so I can't post the pictures but will later.

I know for certain it is the same one and I distinctly remember taking off the vac line adapter before I mailed it.

Wow, this is strange then...

An "090" has a throttle-body vacuum connection, but it's there only as a scavenge/safety device if the warm-up regulator were to fail and leak internally (it sucks up fumes and fuel). The vacuum line hook-up does not affect operation of the unit.

Maybe the 930 Lambda setup is not discussed in the CIS Primer info (I haven't looked at it closely), but their WURs do have a vac line/port for boost enrichment . . .

I just discovered a Missing Link on the Primer. It was to a page under Electrical showing the electrical connections for the Lambda ECU. This was on the old Primer edition, but I missed posting the link in the new menu.

I am also close to having a re-pro version of the K-Jetronic Troubleshooting Guide ready for printing. Email if anyone is interested in a copy. This was out of print years ago, and I have a personal letter from PCNA that it will not be re-issued.

There is a web-based version on the CIS Primer site at:
