Nice job, your car looks great and the wheels just right.

I started redoing my wheels today using rattle cans. I used the paint (Metallic Matte Nickel #7277) for the pedals suggested by manichols. It appears a bit too dark. Any other suggestions? Lastly, is a clear coat or two recommended? Thanks, Gary

Robingb - did you use any type of primer? I used a light self etching primer to prep my wheels, from which the Matte Nickel shows up fairly light. Just a thought.

thanks for the reply. i used a light green self etch primer. after a few coats of paint i don't think a lighter primer would have had much influence. i will paint the black tomorrow. maybe it will make the pedals look lighter. did you finish with a clear coat? if so, was it a matte clear or a gloss clear?

Maybe someone with more knowledge on RS wheels than me (because I have none) can chime in but I don't think a clear coat is used. As far as primer, I used a two stage spray primer with the activation button on the bottom of the can to activate the epoxy into the primer. Worked great. Four months without a chip.

I recently purchased some 8x16 from a Pelicanite and decided that now was the time to clean up my wheels and finish them off with an RSR finish...
Well, many weeks later and some frustration because I am sorta-anal, I decided to leave them as per the pictures below. I ended up redoing them several times because of rattle can paint color choices. I ended up Scotch-Briting the lip, other than that, the petals are of a satin silver finish. |

I think he just used a Scotch Bright pad. And then painted the centres black.
They look great!
