Unknown Electrical Connector behind AC drier

Hi guys,

So today I was doing some brake servicing and cleaning inside the wheel wells, and I found this connector tucked behind the AC lines just above the Drier in the front left wheel well. No idea what it is for - thoughts?

Might be the connector to the refrigerant overpressure switch which can be mounted on the drier. Perhaps the drier was replaced with a model that does not have that switch?

I think brake wear sensor too. The center looks a bit odd. Is there a wire stuck in there to short it and kill the light? I've done that before. Ken

Not the brake wear sensor, that one actually goes to the brake and comes out of the hood just forward of the brake line.

I've never heard of a refrigerant over pressure switch, but suppose it's possible, the AC doesn't work right now, will be installing a new Griffith's system this summer.

Which light could such a thing activate?

If it is a pressure switch, high probability of that, it opens the compressor clutch circuit if the system pressure rises to high.

It looks like remainings of euro side maker socket.

I think Draco got it, check the passenger side/fender, wheel well area for another one to verify . A "peanut pinch" bulb should fit right in there by the looks of it & that's pretty much the location for that plug with rubber cap & tab.

You can tell by the number of wire terminals.

If Skip has a 1984 they did not use ac "pressure" switches.
The earlier 70' years may have had a ac "temperature" switch attached to the drier.
Temperature correlates with high side pressure.

Interesting discussion :-). I checked the passenger side and it has the same connector. The car is a RoW German spec, but I assume that the fenders were changed at some point in its history as it doesn't have the side marker lights any more.

Love this forum - learned about AC and my connector at the same time. It is an '84.
