Another wiring question

Does anyone know what this plug is for? It is on the bottom right below my fuse panel. It has 7wires. I have a 86 targa. I installed the headlight relays and this was on the lower front screw where you attach the relays.

I don't have the answer "86," but I'll post my '80 fuse panel for you --- perhaps there is some value in this reference:

Something a PO added?
Aftermarket alarm?
I don't think it is factory.

That connector is stock, I have a pic showing that connector in the factory manual. Still looking to see what it's for but it's defiantly stock.

If you have the factory manual, then just follow the wires to where they go.

I see the connector in an actual picture of the fuse block. It does not tell me what the connector is for.

Can you trace any of the wires to a specific fuse? That may help narrow down the circuitry.

Thanks for the help. I have an 83 sc and it's not on it. Think it's factory and I thought it might be common and someone would have a quick answer. Will check where the wires go. Car does not have an alarm system.

I have a 84 cab and it does NOT have that connector. So what features where added in 85-86? I do have factory alarm. No Power seats.

You could just unplug it to see what does not work.

Power seats where added in 85 so maybe it's for that option?

Ok pulled plug seats still work but the open door buzzer was dead. Have to see what else is on with them.

Pretty sure my '85 with power seats does not have that item.

Not power seats they worked after I separated the plug. But another questions on power seats do your power seats work when the key is out of the ignition?? Mine do. I thought that was strange.

Just looked at the power seat schematic for 86-89 cars and that is correct, power seats have power at all times. Power comes from fuse #2 in fuse block #3 located in the front trunk.

Can't find that plug anywhere around or behind the fuse block in my Targa production date 04/85. It might be in the nest of wires that disappears under the fuel filler line, but, as they are undisturbed, I did not pull mine out-but I don't think a plug that big is hiding under mine. Does that connector have any numbers on it to google? Have you traced any of the wires to anything identifiable? Quite a few of you will recognize the mods to my panel recommended by "86 911 Targa". I'm very happy with those, thanks again Gerry.

I suspect that this connector was added in the 86 model year. I also don't have it in my 84.

Found Gerry's Fog light comments in the attached thread. You can clearly see the top of the same plug on his 86 before he added his head light relay. Look through some of his other posts, there may be more info.
