Replace the Injector seals, injector sleeves and seals, rubber air box to runner sleeves, Throttle body to air box o-ring, metering plate assembly to air box gasket. Cold start injector gasket.
When apart test your air box for cracks using the pressurized air submersion method (seal all holes to vacuum area and apply a little air pressure while submerging) There are posts and pictures of Tony (boyt911sc) demonstrating how in some threads. Rennline stuff - RSR Engine Carrier and Fan Housing Strap :D http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...pszd86nvlc.jpg |
I found a local shop that does ultrasonic and chemical cleaning. I am thinking about chemical cleaning for the oil tank, however I am not sure if I should do US cleaning on the cam housing, engine case, oil cooler, etc. What is the general consensus?

Got stuff!
http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...psdri5zsce.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...psg4kdeiuz.jpg Gotta say, excellent service from Dougherty, quick and efficient. Turns out my heads need major work so cgarr (Craig) is taking care of that, and my rods are getting the royal treatment from Steve@Rennsport. Once those arrive, I'll be able to start assembly! |
Wow this is epic. Nice build! Sub'd
|
Craig does great work, pay the extra cash and have him R&R all exhaust studs on the heads!

I had my case, cam towers, and chain housings ultrasonically cleaned after spending way too many hours trying to clean them by hand. I should have done that from the start. I still need to take my oil cooler in. |

I got some bad news yesterday from one of my instagram followers who said his Bursch headers rusted very quickly and that I should coat them or use heat wrapping. Looks like I'll start sanding them to remove the paint and then paint them with high heat spray paint. |
Got the first batch of stuff back from ultrasonic cleaning

Find any dipsticks in that oil tank?

Got a question. When removing different parts from the crankcase, a few studs came off (pics below). What is the general consensus on reuse? I ordered new studs that mate the engine case with the transmission since one was bent, and ordered a set for where the oil breather cover mates with the engine, but what about these random ones?

Will go through it one more time then use rubbing alcohol to finish it off before assembly. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...pshifzelp7.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...psgrutnfam.jpg and an update on the final setup: 100mm slip-fit nickies with 9.5:1 JE pistons (essentially 3.3L), 964 cams, Bursch headers, M&K 2-in-1-out exhaust and a bitz EFI kit |
Anybody? stud reuse?
|
I reused any studs that just backed out.
Unless they were damaged. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
