Newbie engine teardown/rebuild - advice always welcome!

Did a dirty job today - plenty of degreaser and cleaned the engine bay, tunnel, and wheel wells. Plan is to paint everything black (except the tunnel). Removed all the AC lines as well. Also placed an order for a new fuse box from Fred Cook, and Rennsport shipped my rods so it should get interesting pretty soon!

The last piece of the puzzle is here - Rods are back from Steve@rennsport with new ARP bolts, pin bushings, bearings (not Glyco) and a full bill of health

Will start assembling the engine in the next few days once I wrap up some of the mini projects I started.

Open the boxes of bearings. I bet they're Glyco. They're just Porsche QC-checked/approved Glyco.

I think thats exactly why I didn't open them.. don't want to find out They're more than double the price of regular glycos which I also already have.. all that for a quality check?

Long time no update.. been busy with work and the family, but managed to do alot to the body of the car.. removed the AC stuff, cleaned up as much as possible, and to my dismay I discovered alot of rust and I finally decided it was not worth building on a rotten foundation so off it goes for a full chassis resto and paint


Meanwhile, I managed to seal the case today



Got new panels coming, new ER cooling system, and other bits and pieces.. looks like everything will be brand new by the time I'm done

The progress is going well, but slow. Body has been completely repaired, all new panels have taken the place of the rusty ones. Car has been stripped and is being prepped for paint. Estimated start of the paint job will be Saturday hopefully!

In terms of the engine, I closed the case and haven't had time to do any more. I am still receiving parts, but some things I am yet to order like the new brakes and suspension. I suspect it will take quite a bit of time for me to finish the project!

Made some progress today. Thanks to Supertec for sending me a replacement stud and not calling me out on my stupid mistake!

Not sure how this happened. See the nuts in the pic below. Before reaching anywhere near the torque value, they starting rotating in their place. Wont go in or out. Whats the best way to remove them?

Hey I just came across this great thread! Looks like you're having fun!

I have one tiny tip for you. Put some JB Weld around the base of the red sensor in the picture. They tend to leak where the metal lip curls over the base of the red plastic. If you epoxy that sucker up now you'll prevent a possible future leak.
