Tracked down both 8" and 9" Fuchs, what would you pick?
Looking at a pair of 8 x 16 or 9 x 16 original Fuchs for the rear of my SC. These are in the 911 offsets to give me the look and fit I'm after. I know that the choices for 245 tires to fit the 9's are limited, and that the fit will be almost identical to the 8's on the outside edge. Potential cost differences aside should I focus on the 8's or is there a compelling reason to go with the wider wheels if the price is right?

I prefer 7s & 8s. Only you know if you want more tire.

either way you go, you have a winning combination. you might as well flip a coin. at one time 9s were really the choice but now 8s/9s, are you really going to see the difference while you're in the car?

I have 9's with 225 tires. Might be worth considering looks-wise. Looks a little tighter than 245 i think. Especially when lowered.

I have 7x16s and 8x16s on my SC. I am running 245-45x16 Falken rear tires on the 8x16s with no problems. In the long run, the 9x16s will likely be more valuable than the 8s, so why not "invest" in the future?

Most folks cannot distinguish between the two, so either will give you a great look. I am running 7"/9" and must recommend the Bridgestone Potenza in a 245 configuration - freaking awesome footprint from behind esp. with a lowered car.
BTW, in alignment shop, after suspension rebuild, I was asked what configuration I wanted (Street, Race, etc.) and opted for pure Street. Even with this config., my rear wheels have a slight camber unlike the pics above.

Oh, and be sure to roll your front fenders before you get the 7", esp with a 225 tire set.

If you have to pick between the two, 8s all day. Not enough selection in 245+ 16" tires to justify 9s, unless you can put race rubber. Then it's 9s all day.

I'm running the stock 6x16 and 7x16 fuchs now, looking to move the 7's to the front with 205's, and 225's in the rear. 8's are sounding like the best choice.

That said you want to optimize the rubber and other suspension components to get the most from the car. one potential choke point is the rear tires for 9, you would want 245/45 x16 there are only a few choices for the tire in a high perf street version, fortunately B/S RE11 and Toyo T1R are 2 of them. nothing wrong w/ 7 & 8 as that was the factory sport suspension option for many years

correct, for 16" Fuchs only the 8x16ET23.3 Fuchs is possible in fron w/ stock front fenders and it's a tough fit, most that use 8" front use aftermarket wheels w/ more appropriate ET.

8 and 9 inch wheels
I am using 205 55 16s on 8 inch rims and 225 50 16s on 9 inch rims. I personally like the look of a wheel rim that is as wide as the tire, and they handle just fine.
