Where to find +12V for the clock

I pulled my clock out to have it converted to quartz, only to find it wasn't connected. I looked around for a red wire to get +12V, but didn't find one. Would the original wire have been red? What/where is the best place to find a source for +12V in the dash?

What year is your 911?

There should be a red wire (possibly with black stripe) that is always hot. In other words, it's 12V constant since the clock always has power to keep time.

You might also find a 12V constant wire near the radio, if it's a "modern" 911 that has clock memory as well.

If all else fails you can check the fuse panel and find a fuse post that has 12V constant and run a new wire from there.

Most years the clock wire supplying a constant 12 volts is black. European wiring uses Brown for ground.
The red black mentioned earlier is for instrument power and is switched power. (Turns off with key, clock stops)
What year is your car? The one in your garage is a '73, so it should be a double black wire that heads over to the glove box lamp after it connects to the clock.
It comes from the fuse panel.

The original clock wire is black from fuse one in a 1973.

I found the double black - with the end taped up with masking tape! Would have been great if that thing found a ground; Jeesh. Verified it with a volt meter.

Thanks, all!
