World Upholstery Pleather Seat Covers
If you're hunting for a leather seat recover kit, here's some quick notes on World Upholstery's $1300 "leather" front seat kit. Their "leather" is surface coated with a synthetic --- it's Pleather. This means there's NO natural leather look & feel to their leather seating material. With a synthetic coating, this material will FAIL to wear in and gain the character that a true leather surface achieves over time.
If anyone knows a resource that provides seat kits that are 100% leather inside and out (without a synthetic top-coating) please post. WU's kit and a close-up:   To their credit, WU is taking product back and providing full credit. Thank you Heather.

Lakewell offers a seat kit. Have not bought a leather kit, however have bought their complete carpet set and it's the best aftermarket set I've ever seen. Their products are highly rated. The owner will respond to Email queries on a very timely basis, ask him about his seats. Fast no problem purchase and shipping from Belgium

+1 Autoberry. I got the full leather (backs too). Best price to boot made in Van Nuys, Cali. Which ever company you choose, ask for swatches of the leathers to compare. You want to insure the dye is all the way thru not just the surface because when the seat wears, it will expose the un-dyed part.

I used Autoberry for my 82 SC and 87 Carrera seats and would use it again any time.

Haha. That's not pleather. It is real leather it is just top dyed instead of vat dyed. Most cheaper leather press in a grain and top dye the color to get the right tint. If you want leather the same quality that porsche used originally you have to look at companies such as spinneybeck and garret. It's not cheap but it has the correct natural top grain and is vat dyed. The company that both world and gahh get their leather from takes base colors and custom tints them to match by basically painting on the top coat. It doesn't look right and wears even worse.

Since my DIY install, my new leathers have worn very well, still looking new. Even the spot I screwed up on the driver's bolster padding repair, my old leathers wore right thru the coating and expose a beige color leather. The new ones are wearing at the same spot but exposing black leather, so I am quite happy I chose the VAT processed leather ( Thanks Sleepy911 for the proper terminology  )DIY Re-upholstery Front Sport Seats kit 85-89 Oh yeah, I paid $750 for both Full Leather front and back (used for Coupes, apparenlty Cabs & Targa used vinyl backs)

Even the Vat dyed leathers get a spray topcoat to even them out, just not as much.
