tire pressure

I just bought new Dunlops for my '84 911 carrera turbo look. The tires side wall reads 51psi max .Do I set them all to 51psi or go by the vehicle manufacture sticker in the engine bay which recommends 29psi front and 36psi rear?

29/36.........do donuts in a parking lot, use an IR gun and measure temps, inside, mid and outside. Adjust as needed.

You will have to experiment to find what is best for you, the side wall # is a max, not what to use.

I find something like 33-34 front and 34-35 rear hot to work pretty well for me.

a few rules of thumb
to reduce under steer raise the front pressures and/or lower the rears

to increase comfort lower front and rear

if you want to get more into it get a tire pyrometer
center hotter than edges - too much pressure
edges hotter than center - too little pressure
inner edge hotter than outer - too much neg camber
outer hotter than inner - too little neg camber
tire temp too high in general - pressure too low, tire too narrow, springs/sways too soft at that axle
fronts hotter than rear - under steer
rear hotter than front - over steer

I've used 36R & 29F (cold) for decades.

I pump them up to 44R/35F hot,
park the car overnight,
then bleed them down.

Nice equal tread depth all around.

My SC liked 32 front, 35 rear.

Also, my condolences on the loss of the officers at the courthouse.

OEM 15" fuchs calls for 29/36

However on a recent alignment at West End Alignment, Darin recommends a 4 lbs difference front to rear, so he made it 31/35, note, I have 17"s

Tire pressure threads are so nice and polite...a nice reprieve from the rancor found in the AC threads
