3.2 carrera runs poor with 02 sensor plugged in

I replaced my old 02 sensor with a factory new one and my car still runs just average feels low on power and sluggish acceleration but runs smoothly and idles at 880. when I unplug the sensor it runs great with way more power at mid and high rpm with a slightly high idle at 1k and smells rich.

Suggestions?
Should I look at my cht sensor or reference sensor?
Thank you

My first guess would be an issue with your fuel delivery...

This is completely unscientific, but my car ran so poorly when I bought it, that the PO had disconnected the O2 sensor b/c it ran better with out it.

I later found that I had a an ICV issue and a lot of little vacuum leaks. Once I resolved them, it ran better with the O2 sensor. Your ICV may be ok, but you might have un-metered air getting in.

Any difference in performance between when cold and when warmed up?

The ref sensor is only used during start up, so I think you can eliminate that.
A faulty CHT can mess with you tho'.

*-Don't think I have any vacuum leaks I have checked it twice.

*-yes much better when hot!

Pull the hose off the fuel pressure regulator and see if gas runs out.

I think he's referring to the small vacuum line that's plugged in the middle of the regulator.

Would gas run out of the vacuum line? JW said to remove the hose to see if gas runs out.

How do you open the meter? Looks like it's just glued in place ?

No you do open the unit.
Remove it from the car.Remove the el.plug there are 3 nuts which holdss it in place.then big hose clamp on top.On the right side is a breather hose bracket where you remove 2 phillips head screws.(also remove the filter with the cover 1st.)
Behind the filter is the 3rd nut to hold it in place.Once you have it out you drill 2 mini holes into the alu.plug and remove it by pulling it out with needle nose pliers.

Here is the alu plug.

the plug comes out here do not bother to put it back no need to.

Ivan

Final report , it was a bad cht sensor old crusty single wire. Possibly a bad spark plug wire contributed to the problem. I got a new set of beru wires and she is back on the road. Thanks
