Can you record or live stream??

Gretz 06-01-2019 02:19 PM

I've said it before, but I'm definitely in if this class starts up again!

Tony, your class looks like a great way to get me over my apprehension of a rebuild. If you hold another class, count me in.

Chris,

A few of them who attended the “Introduction to Engine Rebuilding” are doing their first engine rebuilds. Attending in these sessions will not make you a better engine rebuilders but will help you overcome the fear and anxiety most people had before coming to these sessions. And you will be prepared to tackle any problem with more confidence than before.

As of today, I have not secured a room to conduct the two-day sessions (8-hour/day). I am working on this with the help from people in this forum. Due to family travel plans, the date is tentatively planned for April 2020. All sessions will be held on weekdays and no weekend. Monday to Friday only. I was exhausted after a two-day session and will need a break between each group.

So who are interested in attending the April 2020 Spring sessions? Let’s have a head count. Reply to this post or send me an email @ ATD911@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Tony

Introduction to engine rebuilding class......

My brother and I flew out from LA to the April class last year and it was totally worthwhile. Learned a lot, met some really cool Porsche enthusiast and wasn’t afraid to tackle an engine rebuild after the class.

Glad to see the interest in this.

I’ve been offering hands- on Porsche engine classes for 11 years, (www.theknowledgegruppe.com)and have a dedicated training facility where I host these, here in Georgia. World- wide attendance is the norm.. Last year we added the aircooled classes, and have two coming up for the remainder of 2019. The classes are grouped “early” up to 964, and “late” which is 964/ 993. Everything is hands on, and I also do an online class as a pre- cursor.

People are always looking for knowledge, and they learn a lot from doing the work themselves.

Glad to see something like this going on for the west coast. I keep my facility set up full time for classes, and though I am asked weekly to travel to the west coast to host classes, I am not willing to do it. I have things set up very efficiently, and its a comfortable learning environment, to say the least.

Bruce Anderson offered these classes back in the day, and I’m glad folks are still sharing the information. Wayne Dempsey's book is also a great resource for starters.

Introduction to engine rebuilding class......

So far, I haven’t seen anything like this being offered on the W.C. On a class like this. That’s why when I saw one being offered, I requested to be included as dates are finalized.

I wished I had the resources to be able to drop it off at a shop. However, since I don’t have an open checkbook, I have to pick my battles. I even considered to volunteer my days off during the week at a local shop as a gopher in an attempt to glean some knowledge. But I’m not in the inner circle of the two shops I know of.

The classes will be conducted 2 days in a row (8:00 AM ~ 5:00 PM) plus an extra hour who wanted to stay. There will be an hour lunch break. The sessions will be Monday & Tuesday and Thursday & Friday. The venue will be held in 19401 (zip code) and exact address not yet finalized. Below are the schedules.

First session: April 13 & 14, 2020 (Monday & Tuesday)

Second session: April 16 & 17, 2020 (Thursday & Friday)

Third session: April 20 & 21, 2020 (Monday & Tuesday)

Fourth session: April 23 & 24, 2020 (Thursday & Friday)

Fifth session: April 27 & 28, 2020 ( Monday & Tuesday)

I like to limit the number of attendees per session from 10 to 8 this time. So participants would have more time and hands on experience tearing down and assembling the engine. Thanks.
