Had a great time and met a good bunch of people. Thank You Tony, it was well worth it.

I think I'm good on Cheese Steaks for a while though.

livetopedal 09-27-2021 11:18 AM

Thanks Tony! And thanks to our special guest Fred (faapgar) for popping in.
Lots of fun and an invaluable experience. I am now confident that I can rebuild my motor when the time comes - which, hopefully, is never.

faapgar 09-28-2021 03:40 PM

Tony the magic teacher

It was great fun to watch Tony at work.He made sure every student had a hands on moment. They all removed a rocker shaft then the heads. They removed piston pins with Tonys great homemade tools. They split the case and each student lifted the crank and intermediate shaft will oil pump in and out. They all lifted the case half then reinstalled it with his specials tools.Lack of knowledge breeds fear.Tonys teaching method removes that fear.Kudos to Tony. Also all the students were very attentive and striving to learn. To say the least I was impressed with his passion.I was glad to offer a few tidbits to aid him.Fred

I'm very interested in the April 2022 class if it happens and there is space. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread!

Nditiz1 10-05-2021 05:12 AM

I'm in for the April 2022 as well.

JHG 10-05-2021 05:22 AM

I would be another willing pupil for April 2022 (or any other month) as well. Thank you.

Gretz 10-05-2021 08:04 AM

I would probably come back for a refresher next year as well!

alexandervdr 10-06-2021 01:32 AM

Great initiative. Being in Belgium, it's kind of unrealistic to attend. Suggestion: capture the 2 days on video, then edit it, then sell it. I am pretty sure there are a vast amount of enthousiasts willing to pay, to start with myself ;)

Uwon 10-06-2021 02:57 AM

I’m in for April 2022 as well IF the US-Canada border opens.

Tony,

I am interested in April 2022 as well, you still have my payment from last year.

Looks like I will have to rebuild my 3.0 as I found wear on my cams when doing a valve adjustment.

Hey Tony, can you put me down for April 28-29?

I registered previously for a class that was cancelled. I will send you an email as well.

Thanks.

SkunkWorks 12-23-2021 05:29 PM

Tony, please put me down for April 28-29 barring any border restrictions for us Canucks.

Will be flying in from the west coast - anyone have a recommendation for places to stay around there?

Hoping to catch the Hershey swap meet as well. Rent a car? Carpool?

Look back on this thread and you will find Tony’s suggestions for hotels.
The former Hershey Swap meet has moved to Carlisle.
See you on the 28th. 🤞🤞🤞

Shaun,

PM me your information (full name & email address) for my record you are already listed. BTW, it is not a good idea to use your motor in the workshop. You will understand the logic after attending the sessions. I’ve been offered by many if they could use their motors for the workshop and my reply was “I would not recommend it”.

Right now, I have 4 motors available for the workshop and another one coming in next month for a top/bottom rebuild. It is getting crowded in my garage. Thanks.

Tony

Shaun @ Tru6 12-25-2021 04:49 AM

Thanks Tony, I was only kidding about the motor for I'm sure the same reasons. And I'm Cerakoting the case so more care than normal will be needed during assembly.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Geneman 12-25-2021 05:49 AM

Merry Christmas Shaun and Tony! Frank

Hi Tony. I'm signed up for April 28-29 and I'm wondering if there is anything I should do to arrive as prepared as possible. I saw mention somewhere in the pages of posts something about "the Dempsey book". I assume it's this:

https://www.amazon.com/Rebuild-Modify-Porsche-Engines-1965-1989/dp/0760310874

Should I buy and read that before the class? Something different? Just show up?

Thanks!

David,

Wayne’s book contains a lot of information that would be helpful to both beginners and advanced engine rebuilders. Get one and you won’t regret buying one. All I ask to prospective participants is to come to the workshop with an open mind. You won’t be an expert in engine rebuilding after 2 days of classes but I will assure you that you would be more prepared to tackle your next engine rebuild.

The fear and anxiety you have now will be gone at the end of the two-day workshop and would have a totally different outlook about 911 engine rebuild project/s. Reading all these technical books is good but there is no substitute to actual hands on experience disassembling/assembling a 911 motor.

Looking forward to meet you guys in the spring of 2022. Stay safe and healthy.

Tony

I sent a request last year when the classes were full, is it possible to see updated schedule to see if any new openings fit my schedule?
