Tach/Odometer Connection?
1986 Carrera 3.2. I pulled my non working tach and sent it out for repair (it is not back yet). Just noticed my odometer is not working. Speedometer is fine. Before I complicate it for myself (my usual approach) is there a connection between the removal of the tach and the odometer not working?

Probably a broken gear in the odometer. Same signal drives both the speedo and the odo.

Thanks for the reply. Too clarify, if the speedometer works and the odometer does not then the problem is the plastic gear inside the odometer. The failure of the odometer has nothing to do with the tach?

That's right, nothing to do with the tach. The odo gear is a common failure point.

They normally fail due to old age,but if someone attempts to reset the meter while the car is moving that causes a failure also.
