Post What parts do I need for a bottom end rebuild?

I had hoped to get my car together this year without splitting the cases, but it is not to be. I now have time to rebuild the 2.0. I have completely rebuilt the heads (withe big valves) and have a top-end gasket set and new crank seals.

I might as well do it right and rebuild the bottom end too. I know I need main and rod bearings, what other parts do I need?

Thanks as always.

Cam and lifters--practically always. Cam bearings. Inspect the oil pump for wear.

I'm sure there are a zillion other things I'm not thinking of, but the cam and lifters are ones that should be replaced practically any time the case is split.

Check or have the crank checked. New rod bolts and nuts, which also requires the rods to be trued. Cam, rod, and main bearings of course. Have the oil galley plugs tapped for threaded plugs. Cam and lifters as mentioned, possibly new oil pump. Resurface the flywheel and a complete dynamic balance of all rotating parts. Some assembly required for big smiles next spring.

Thanks - that nails it. I'll search the posts on web cams for D-jet. I still haven't decided if I'll do the big-4 thing or not, this will be subject to hearing the final 'no' on a two sixes I'm chasing.
Jake - you salesman you - I will call to discuss. Thanks again all.
