Cool Delphi Green Metallic paint

Hi, has anyone ever seen a 914 painted Delphi Green Metallic? I have a 1974 2.0 and it was originally this color. The original owner took the car with him to Hawaii on a 2 year work assignment but thought he needed a red sports car while he was there, so he had it repainted. There are a couple of misc. door dings and chips in the paint and I'm debating on repairs or a total repaint. If I do a repaint I'm seriously considering going back to the orginal color.

I think at some time in the past I've seen an old advertisement that had a Delphi Green Mettalic 914 with the 2.0 Fuchs wheels. From what I remember it looked pretty good.

If you have a car this color, or pictures, or a scanner, or .... I sure would like to see a picture to help with the decision. If you do, please forward to markandmarcie@earthlink.net. Thanks.

Thanks for the photo. Looks good! I thought this would be a real shot in the dark, I've never seen a car painted this color. Did you have a hard time getting paint mixed to match the original color or were they able to work from the paint code?

Is it my monitor/video card messed up or something, but does that link show Ravenna Green wrong? I thought it was a more brilliant yellow/green color as campbellcj's car, http://www.nosubstitute.org/914/

My car is Palma Green Metallic (L95K), which the chart shows visually as being the same as Delphi Green Metallic (L99A). Is this true in real life or is the chart buggered up?

I think the chart is off. Looks like the standard PC colors. The oranges, reds, silvers shades all look the same.

Could easily be... Colors are not exactly handled in a standard fashion on web pages. That's what the Pantone color numbers are for. They are an international standard, and are available at art supply places.

The colors on that chart are approximations....

The codes are accurate, and they also can be matched with an existing color. Problem is, some colors will fade and if matched by the machine at the paint shop will not be accurate.

It is better to find a paint supplier that can mix with the codes....

I was very happy with the finished result, but I sold the car. It was a spec car built for someone else....I almost kept it.

Matter of fact, I had one about two months earlier that was the original paint and sold that one to a guy back east. The one pictured was red over the original color....I put it back and it was even prettier than the other one.

The Delphi and the Raveena are very striking colors, they take a bit getting used to, but that was the 70's.....

This is the color under the tank. I am getting my paint from Ray's Auto paint in No. Hollywood only one company had the PROPER code for mixing. This color is only used on 914's 73-74.Steve

I figured it was dirt, but dirt retains MOISTURE (gasp) leading to r.....I can't say it. We have considersble moisture up here in the NW, distributed equally between the ground and the air.

The flares are just stretched out of the original metal with a hammer and dolly. I may go back and make a more pleasing shape this winter. The main idea was to get 7 inch rims and 225 tires under it.

I had never done anything like this before and thought fer sure I would really screw it up. As it is, I suppose they are OK.....but I can do better..................I think they need to be spread out over more of the fender surface, rather than being so abrupt.

Comments?....I still gots my hammer.

I'm also doing a Delphi Green Metallic 914. I'm actually putting together a 3.0 L. Conversion. I had the color mixed by Autocolor in Dupont paint. It is a great 70's period color. My car was also painted red over the original L99A color. Check out the motor. What do you think? The cars body is next for the color restoration.
