Alloy Reproduction 914-6 GT Front Hood Pins
Here is is a drawing I created to assist with the dimensions of the factory GT front hood pins.
![]() These are the actual dimensions taken from the alloy hood pins of the Nürburgring 914-6 GT factory race car... ![]() ...and these are reproduction pins provided by Mark Allin of Rare Drive (courtesy of Bernie Buschen). ![]() ...and the reproduction pins I recently had made to order. Take a look... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I hope you find this post useful if you too would want to reproduce these pins. Below is a re-post photo of a hood pin from the Monte Carlo 914-6 GT for a closer comparison. Signing off, good night! ![]() ![]()

914-6 GT Factory Front Hood Pin Plates
These are the factory 914-6 GT front hood stainless steel pin plates. One set is used and the other new, but I have to re-polish the surface on both to their original high luster.

Monte Carlo 914-6 GT (S-Y7716) Hood Plates, Pins, Rivets
This significant factory GT is currently owned by Jeff Zwart who is no stranger to racing these cars. Fortunately for us,
the 914-6 GT is now located here in the U.S. and I'm sure we'll get to see it more often. ![]() During the recent Rennsport Reunion IV this last October, I was fortunate to get closer to the car and had the opportunity to snap some photos. I couldn't get to the interior, or the engine bay area of the GT, but maybe next time... ![]() ![]() Note the flat lenses... ![]() ![]() Note the special rivets used to hold the plates in place, not your regular pop-rivets... ![]() I'll have to source these. ![]() ...and a close-up of the underside. ![]() Non-related... Here is a short video of Jeff Zwart driving a 914-6. Will he drive his new 'Monte GT' the same way? Those are some very stationary looking trees. ![]()

You are correct about the hood plate fasteners, they are are panhead or nail rivets.
They can be found on: 914.043.0032 ![]() Last edited by Glenn Stazak; 11-09-2011 at 08:28 AM.. |

GT Front Hood Pin-Plate Rivets...

![]() Most definitely to go out of my way to NOT use the more common pop-rivets. It's the sum of, and the aggregate use of ALL the 'small details' that will later make the big difference. ![]() A-

Helpful Videos on Riveting
Glenn gave me a great idea, to search YouTube. From the simplest, to the more complicated. Check it out...
...this could be the ideal tool for our GT hood application ![]() If you have a good suggestion on which tool to use, and/or how to best install "Solid Aluminum Rivets" for our GT hood pin-plate application, please let us know. Thx! ![]() Improper installation can easily result in a dented pin-plate and rivet-head. Note the solid rivets on the left and right of the hood pin-plate in the following photo. ![]() ![]() It looks rather simple and it probably is, but one has to definitely be very, very careful.

Interesting to see a GT transformation. Makes you have a great appreciation for the older classic Porsche.
I like these performance items that it had available. |

As a suggestion, you may want to put a couple of washers under the pin-plate (between the hood and plate) at the rivet locations to keep the plate from denting.

Shimming the plate is a great suggestion. A few months ago, I was having a conversation with Kevin (Gunnar Racing) and recall him saying something about avoiding having the pin-plates cutting into the painted surface of the hood, but I can't remember what it was. I'll have to email or call him again....
PS: I just spilled a sticky after dinner drink on my laptop's keyboard and it's really screwing up! It takes me forever to type a correct sentence. AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()

New Set of (used) Fuchs Arrival...
Can't spend too much time uploading photos tonight, so for now, I'll post some of my new (used) set of 8x15 and 9x15 Fuchs which I received a few days ago.
No curb rash and in perfect shape. All I may need to do to these wheels is maybe have them restored with a new finish, but truly, IMHO totally unnecessary... ![]() ![]() These are the 8 x 15 ![]() These are the 9 x 15 ![]()
