Hi Matt! Yes, sometimes I find myself doing the very same thing, just going through some of these videos, all hand-picked you know...

Here are three more, 917-021

...watch the driver of this 911 RSR, he's certainly not pulling back any punches!

By the way, I promise to hopefully soon come back to this thread and continue with the posting of the progress of my 914-6 GT project. There's a whole lot more to come...

My Mac Pro Quad-Core Xeon video-editor crashed due to a RAID failure which I have yet to repair. Hopefully I will be able to restore it at some point and pick up where I left off. It would s**k and I hate to think I'll have to dump over 8-hours of video to the editor once again. Live and learn...

Thanks for asking!

I know, I know, I have to come back and continue posting my project photos on this thread...

..but in the meantime, I recently came across these three great videos and wanted to share them with you. Some remarkable footage!

1971 Monte Carlo Rally - Here is one the three 71' Porsche 914-6 GT factory cars, sn 914.143.0141 advance to timeline 4:29

Early Le Mans Pre-race Video...

The History Channel, the 1955 24-Hour Du Mans race with a detailed description and illustrations on how this horrific accident actually happened. Take a look...

PS: This particular video clip is set to "embedding disabled by request", just click the link at the center of the screen and it will play on YouTube.
After working the code, I was able to embed it here, but when I find more time, I hope to get it to also play in this thread. Stay tuned, certainly worth watching!!!

I really have to get cranking on updating this thread, keep ignoring it...

DO NOT DESTROY THE HEAD/CAP, BE SURE TO TAKE YOUR TIME TO DO THIS PROPERLY, WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS...

...we first machined two non-threaded aluminum flat plugs to securely attached the adjustment cap to the thermostat

and were very careful to secure it to a machinist vise while tightening it. The thermostat can easily slip damaging both flat surfaces.

NO NEED TO OVERTIGHTENT, YOU DON'T NEED TO TORQUE IT DOWN!

914-6 GT REPA Shoulder Belt Brackets OEM NOS WOW!!!

Somehow, I manage to continue to find the 'rarest' of the missing OEM and NOS parts I need to complete my 914-6 GT project.

Below are a few photos of the parts that arrived from Germany yesterday. Thank you very much again Michael Gehrke!!!

Porsche factory 914-6 GT OEM race parts, in the plastic bags with part number labels and all.

The parts in this kit is the 2nd one I've seem in the last two+ decades.
Glenn Stazak has one other OEM parts kit and for a while, he didn't realize his parts (no bags or p/n) were actually OEM 914-6 GT parts until he came across these photos showing the part numbers.
Imagine that, not knowing about the GT loot you had! LOL

I'm very fortunate, to have NOT painted the tub yet and almost did.

Had I opted to paint the chassis prior to finding the OEM GT reinforcement plates, that would have been a disaster, probably costing me a whole lot more money by welding them in place and then having to repaint that entire area...

For the most part, there are always reasons for everything, even though we don't always see them coming... : )

Almost forgot to also post a few sample photos of the OEM 914-6 GT Shoulder Belt Harness Brackets and how those look installed in some significant cars.

Aren't they supposed to be welded to the engine side? Isn't that how it's done in all those photos of other 914-6 GTs?

Yes, and I posted lots of photos to illustrate exactly that. The reinforcement shoulder-belt brackets are welded to the firewall on the engine bay side, so had I painted my chassis and then welded the brackets that would have certainly damaged the expensive paint job.

I don't understand why you asked that question...
