window regulator part-where do I get it?
The plastic bushing is shot on my DS window regulator. I searched pelican and didn't see it. Where can I can get this? You can see it sitting at the bottom of the door.

I don't see the part listed in the factory catalog either. (It's available as a PDF that you can download from the Porsche Classic website.) The track is visible in the drawing in the catalog, but there does not seem to be a part number associated with it at all.
P/N 914.542.041.10 / 914.542.042.10 is listed as "power windows", L / R. That's the cable/track/channel part, as far as I can tell, and the bushing is probably sold as part of that assembly. (Hey, does that mean early 914s have power windows? Hand-powered, I guess.) Our catalog shows them as available for a couple hundred each, but special order with no returns. My best suggestion at this point is to try to pick up the pieces and figure out the dimensions and shape of the bushing, and have a machinist make one for you out of Delrin or a similar material. --DD

I was afraid you were going to say that. I saw an entire regulator for sale, but it seems like a lot of work for something so small.

There is a window regulator "rebuild" kit for a Super Beetle that has those parts. I have two of those kits, but have not seen them for a while so I am keeping them. I got mine from Midamerica or someone like that. Maybe they just don't list it in the catalog

If you get the early one from Joe, you could have a whole bunch of the plastic bushings made up by a machinist. Might be able to recoup some of the cash outlay, or at the very least be able to help other early 914 owners who have a similar failure...

Back in the day when my daughter had her 914 2L and my ex-race car had doors with windows I needed several of these. I went to San Diego Plastics and bought some delrin rod (slightly harder than the nylon) close to the diameter of the largest part. I drilled the center hole on my drill press and then cut the steps with rasps and sandpaper. Once that was done I cut it off and made others the same way. I was about 1 1/2 hours total for 4 of them.
