Speed/ reference replacemnt
OK. Stupid question, but am in the middle of it. Replacing my speed/reference sensors. Got them out, and just received the parst today. I got everything that connects to the sensors- wires, bracket, and the metal that holds the male ends of the wires, all connected in 1 peice. My question is should I take out my old bracket and peices, and replace all the old parts with the very low miled used ones? If so, is there an easy way to take out the bracket? ha, im sure there isnt, but.....
I will wait for a little bit, then I will just take apart the "new" peices and just install the sensor wires. Thanks guys.

Hey! A new test case! I haven't done anything other than replace the sensors, so I have no actual words of wisdom other than what you already know from Clark's. Unless your brackets are corroded or really mucked up, why not just save the brackets for a later date? Adjusting Sensor Clearance

Thanks. I just closed up Clarks speed/ reference sensor page, and looked here, and re-read it again. Well, I will just replace the sensor wires because if were to take the bracket out, I dont know if I will have a "whole day" to do the adjustment on it. I will play it as it goes I guess.
EDIT- I lied about getting the sensors out. I thought that I broke free the speed sensor (one closer to firewall) and would get it out later. I guess I didnt break it. I tried to use a socket wrench, I can get it on, but no room to loosen, just wiggle. I have been trying another way by putting on the 10mm hand wrench (Clarks says 8mm, but wont fit, noe does 9mm) and use a hammer as an extension, and using a 4lb mallet to try and loosen it. Still no go.

If the old sensor is giving you problems to remove, I think you ought to bite the bullet and try to remove the entire bracket. Although functioning properly, I tried to replace mine and found that they were frozen in place. I ended up destroying the bracket to get it and them out... good thing I had the head off the car.

In my experiance it is best to replace all the parts as one (if the bracket, sensor, etc.. all came as one from the same veh) as parts tend to wear with each other, kinda like brake pads with rotors.
A slighty used sensor with it's slightly used bracket will line up better than a used sensor with a new bracket or used bracket from your old sensor. If you have the parts use em, if not use your old ones. The difference isn't much but it's not perfect.

I got the speed sensor out. I used a neigbors socket wrench with 3 extension on it. I had to cut a zip-tie, but I went straight down to the nut and got it out. Thought about butting in the bracket, but am not all that confident in taking everything out that would be neede to take out to put the sensor bracket in.
I tried to start her, and I got nothing. A real bummer. The car was trying to start, but it just keep turning and turning, but would turn over. EDIT: I got her up to about 2000 RPMs! Then she quit ![]()
