How to tell if I have an updated H2o pump?
Hey everyone, I've got an 83 944 and I'm going to replace the timing and balance shaft belts. While I'm in there I'm also going to replace the rollers and gears. Are there any tell tale signs for me to look for to determine whether or not my water pump is new because that dictates the size of timing roller I need? Also, posted a picture of the car because I can't figure out how to do it in My Garage.

To be able to tell any thing about the Water Pump you first have to remove the Timing Belts Cover to inspect it. The later style pump will have a belt guide rail attached to the water pump along with the larger Timing belt roller (46mm instead of the smaller/older 32mm).

Much appreciated! I have the covers removed, seeing both of your indicators. Just trying to make sure that I was on the right track!
