my first 88 did not have the venturi and i know that was how it came stock. neither did my second 88, though it's possible the p.o. changed it.

I've never taken the intake off of mine, so I can't say either way. Just heard that on Rennlist forum.
What exactly is the downside of having the venturi, other than it removes a bunch of the vacuum hoses? I have seen a bunch of guys advertising "Venturi delete" in their car descriptions, but have no idea what the big deal is. Cheers, Keith

The big thing is that it simplifies hoses and lay out. The smaller the number of hoses/connections less to leak and go wrong. As far as I know there is not performance differences. (But the distance of my knowledge some times only extends a few angstroms

the plastic venturi check-valve also fails easily and causes problems when it does.

what kind of problems can the check valve cause? the reason i ask is that a friend of mine with a '87 BMW 325is (i know, i know) is having major idle/power issues and it has an IDENTICAL venturi part.

now that we've completely hijacked this thread...
![]() so, you are saying it COULD be the venturi tube? also, the intake boot is very old and cracked. i've already advised him that this should be replaced and thought that was where we'd start.
