Need Advice on 3.6 engine with low compression
Hey Guys: Need some advice. I may have the opportunity to purchase a beautiful 93 911 cabriolet. This car has 259,000 miles on the odometer. The previous owner had the engine rebuilt less than 15000 ago by a Porsche shop in the area. I have checked the invoice and it appears that the pistons and cylinders were not replaced. The shop just replaced the rings. I ran a cold compression test on the engine with the results below
Cylinder#1 50lbs spark plug oil fouled Cylinder #2 70 lbs Cylinder #3 160lbs Cylinder #4 155lbs Cylinder #5 165lbs Cylinder #6 190lbs Cylinder #1 spark plug is the only one oil fouled. The other plugs are normal. Is it worth a shot to repair the 2 low cylinders. My plans are to only keep the car for the summer then put it on the market. Thanks in advance. William. |

Walk away
You would drop a few thousand into the repair just to turn and sell it - with that kind of mileage, it may be hard to get your money back.
