964 engine Management System

I have a 1989 964. I am replacing my stock engine with a 1993 RSA motor. The motor comes with the brain and proformance chip. I was told that a new engine management system would be very useful ...Haltech etc. which is the best system for my car and what are the cost I could expect to have the system installed?

Thanks,
Shelon

There are lots of choices, none are cheap. Also depends on if you are keeping the stock intake manifolds or using something different.

Motec is one of the most highly regarded

Thanks Bill - The stock intake will remain on the car.

Like Bill says, it's not cheap. Select the management system that your shop is going to be able to support. My shop uses MoTeC so it was a lot less problem to switch to MoTeC than to try and get the Motronic system programmed/re-programmed. A MoTeC conversion is likely to run close to $5k for the ECU, wiring harness, and programming time.

You are in New York so you should contact Jimmy at The Shop. He is a dealer for Accel Gen 7's.

Why do you think you need a standalone? Is there a issue with the Motronic system?

I was told that a new engine management system would release hp on the motor. So I figure i would investigate and see what the costs are.

There are ways to gain control over the factory Motronic engine management. Some of the things that are available for the 964 are: MAF conversion, support to larger injectors, support to LWF and access to fuel and ignition without going the standalone route. If you need more information send me a email.

I know this post is old, but I would like to retract my recommendation! DO NOT USE Jimmy Kakaletris owner of The Shop in Norwalk CT. I am beyond mad about my latest experience with him, and his shop!
