How are you going to handle engine management? Are you using a modified GM "ecu", or a different system? Looking good!

I am ordering a custom programed PCM for the vette/camaro. Wire harness and PCM's are becoming very cheap these days as everything from Miata's to BMW's are doing LS1 conversions.
I ordered the harness from TechRods on Ebay, very happy with it. All the sensors are labeled and provides enough length to route back into the car. I did have to modify 3 sensors wires as the intake is reversed. I will post pictures of the wire harness install when I return to the US. I also plan to have the PCM programmed for dual fan outputs @ 180F and 200F. This will be controlled by relays so that they are not running all the time. Below is a link for the harness. |

Do you have any pictures of the engine cradle? Interested to see how that piece looks. Nice project!

Ended up cutting a 2"X2" opening in the firewall to route the harness thru, the ends of an LS1 harness are huge connectors that make a tight fit. Once thru the firewall I simply mounted the PCM on the passenger side and relay circuits for my water pump and cooling fans behind the drivers side.

Holy Cow! Can you tell us more about the header/exhaust setup? Any more pictures and also, how does the car look with the engine deck shut? Still stealth or can you tell it has a monster lurking?

Once the exhaust arrives I will need to have the car towed to a local speed shop fo the welding. It will require a talented welder and pre bent mandrel pipes. With the deck lid closed it looks like a big nasty intercooler, I will get better pictures latter ![]() ![]() ![]() |

On the last Rock Racer I worked on, we used the Hushpower II (FLowmaster) mufflers. They're double wall SS to control heat and resonation. And they sound great when you open it up. I don't know if you'll have room for them, but i think they're a good option as well.
Glad to see you're back on it. ![]()

i used hushpower mufflers on my sbc conversion. they fit well..sound great...and as stated stainless steel construction and reaonably lightweight. plenty of room for headers with the v8... but.. i still do not understand all the effort to locate the radiator in the rear nor to diffuse all that heat directly over the engine. it is just too easy to place up front... otherwise good to see another conversion.

For the exhaust I am looking to SS Varex, they are used widely in Australia on the LS1 and LS2 Holden cars and sound kick ass. Plenty of video's on Youtube like the ones below. Cost is going to be high but I do not want to sound like a vette or camaro and again want something different. Any pictures or video of other V8 conversion out there? I would love to se them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNlgw1COym8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy5c_Lk5YFI ![]() |
