You have a damn good point though.

BTW, Rebel, I was thinking of an accusump.

I think they are about $200.00 plus cost of plumbing. From what I hear they are a must have for a LS series motor if you are to track the car.

So if I am starting from the bottom I mine as well clean up where the machining and GM cost saving are.
I have some time on my hands till I figure out what I want to put in as a cam, etc..

So today I cleaned up the oil pump and helped the flow a little. I also increased the spring rate some to increase the overall oil pressure.

Flipping through the pics I was thinking - this thing HAS to go black. Then - you painted it satin black! Perfect! Looks great - can't wait to see it completed. I'm a Porsche purist - but what you're doing is nice!

Thanks, I hope to have it all back together and on the road by the 4th of July.
Just some finishing touches to the windshield then the car is good to go.

1st test fire below. the engine has very strong oil pressure. the rattle is the muffler on the engine cradle. that will be fixed soon.

I hope this is not to far off subject, but do you guys have any good ideas for adding heat back to your cars. Mine is up and running so I am looking to get the HVAC worked out. I will be running A/C in the car. SC is just to hot in the summer. I am stuck in Afghanistan now so dreaming/planning is all I can do.

And WOW 700HP! :D

no, all i have done is test drive it. the height as is, is not that bad.

I drove it to the office in the afternoon. sat in traffic both ways and did not over heat.
However I do think the front bonnet needs better vents. this will take some planning.

This is a fantastic project. I really like the looks of the chopped 911. Can you add pictures of how you did the chop? And I'm really interested in how you did the front window glass.

I seem to recall there was one other chopped 911. It was one of those guys that used to race Mulholland Drive back in the late '70's. His was done differently though. I think he laid his cowl back so he could use the stock 911 window uncut. I always liked the roofline of that car but thought the cowl treatment was bulky. Yours is much cleaner.

as for the windshield, I spent the winter practicing on broken windshields the local safelite gave me. Several different methods later and $ invested in tools (most that did not work), I can now cut windshields like butter.

That's just great seeing the two cars next to each other. Fantastic how this came out.

Looks like you could lower a little more ... If you keep with the hot rod look, I'd like to see more stuff shaved / reduced in size: Rain gutters, door handles, blinkers, black rear reflector, flush rear window, single wiper and maybe updated bumpers for a more seamless look?

You should take it to the next PCA wash and show. :D

those are all great ideas, thanks. i was worried about removing the gutters, they are the seam of the upper and lower halves.

Yeah, I am looking to go to the next local PCA to get kicked out. ;)

If you do a search you will find a lot of info on the proper procedure for rain gutter shaving. Ruf (probably amongst other tuners) did this on his cars, so it has a following. It is not terribly involved compared to the fab work you have demonstrated already. ;)

I see the rear bumper, now that you mentioned it - very nice.
