It was in ~ok~ shape when I purchased it.
I have a lot more plans for the body before it goes to paint.

thanks for the positive post.

I just started talking to the guy that is going to be putting in the chassis bracing and cage.
as soon as we have a plan/design that will e the next step.

Not my cup of tea.... but I think the lines would flow better now with slantnose or strosek fenders.

Good idea, I just purchased strosek fenders. Hope to have them by Friday. This will cut a lot of weight also.

The silver Mulholland car uses a stock windshield...A-pillar windshield laid back. Was done by George Barris in so cal in the 70's IIRC. Yeah...THAT Barris

Looking forward to your project.

Hmmm.... a hard top speedster. Maybe it'll grow on me.
I think a different tail and the Strosek fenders will make that happen.

Very creative! I think your roof line is cleaner than the Mulholland RSR version. I have seen it and the line of that car was awkward. There was a 356 on one of these threads that used 550 style cooling ductwork and an enclosed rear window intake. I will post the photo, you might find that it is more fluid that using the quarter windows. As an industrial designer I am impressed when someone applies their creativity: even to something as iconic as the 911 design study. I will look foreword to watching your vision come to fruition!!

To answer how I chopped the top.

I cut a 3" section out of the "A" pillar removed the "B" pillar and pie cut the "C" pillar. Then stretched the top and bottom "A's" to meet. I run 3/8 steel down the middle then started to weld back each layer.
The B & C pillar's were much easier to rebuild

one thing you have to remember is that the pillars are structural and you have to peal them like an onion then brace each layer as you put them back.

it's not as easy as just cutting and pasting:

continued below.

LS Exhaust option

Hi, I love the CHOP! Can't wait to see more.

I found a good set of headers that will clear the RH brackets, they are made by JBA Model 1850S-3 They were made for a LQ motor in a Suburban, but they fit great.

See Pics below! Good luck.

Alternator alignment issue

Hi, I had trouble with my crank pulley / alternator alignment as well. My engine came from a corvette (LS6) and the crank pulley sites closer to the block than it would on a F Body camero/firebird LS motor. I think there are 3 different offsets for the LS crank pulley. Is it possible your motor came from a truck?

The engine came from a camaro. The trucks are iron this is aluminum. However the guy I purchased it from did put truck coil packs on it and sold me the truck computer.
he probability put the pulley on as well.
You have a good source for pulleys?

So close. Wiring this weekend then put the engine in.
Dan, from Reactive Chassis, came over tonight to measure out and talk ideas for the chassis stiffing and cage.

I have always liked ATI's Harmonic Balancers / Pulleys. Don't forget to buy a new bolt if you make the swap, the crank bolt is not re-useable on LS motors.

Keep the pictures coming. I am working on my fuel tank mount and radiator setup. I'll be curious to see how you route the cooling lines. I ended up running mine through the frame heating vents.

Looks like a fun build. I keep thinking you are putting the radiators in the back thus the side scoops.
