Another EFI conversion
Hello to all
As many others before, I decided to go EFI during Wintertime with the 930 of mine After looking several solutions and systems I choosed SDS, because of it's high DIY character and I like spending my time under my car also it's very reasonably priced and can be tuned without Laptop and maybe without dyno, we will see...What components I bought from who will be named when used during the built First I like to thank Ross at SDS and Albert of GSF of their endless patience answering my questions during evaluation process (and the to-be ones), it took e.g. nearly 20 mails until I found the right injectors and JIM2 here on Pelican for Inspiration... But let's start in (more or less) chronological progression: And please, if you see something strange or have some additional infos, different meaning etc. let me know ![]() Removing the CIS came first. After a while it looked like this ![]() ![]() Next step is to mount the Hall sensor for Ignition and fuel timing. At this point I saw, that my Smartracing pulley was bevelling at case. When I mounted, there was little space between, but now there isn't... Anyway, The threads for sensor are drilled. SDS gives detailed infos about where and how to mount the sensor. Note the marks to align correctly to the center of crank ![]() To get the recommended distance between sensor and magnets, I made a spacer from Aluminium ![]() The Pulley with glued-in magnets and machined in the inner section to clear from crankcase ![]() Finally with pulley refitted ![]() BTW does anybody know how to save me from get kicked-out while I am writting a post and need more than 10 minutes?

Because there is no need for distributor, I made a plug wich I glued-in using loctite,, but was tight anyway
![]() ![]() For cold start idling there is a temp sensor at cylinder head. I mounted it this way (copyright by Jim2 I think ) but mine is on the right bank![]() ![]() The ignition coil pack from SDS offers 2 variations for tach signal: 12 or 200Volts. Unfortunatly, mine was set on 200. I don't think this is right, because my tach gets signal from CDI. So I had to open and move the little brigde LH of the orange whatever ![]() I decided to mount the coil pack, where stock CDI was before. Thus I cut some aluminium sheet

Roland, can you tell us what the SDS unit and all sensors/injectors will cost you?
Thanks.

2101USD shipped GSF EFI kit (blocks, rails, lines, Aeromotive FPR, adapters, seals) + injectors (ca. 400USD): 1510USD shipped Turbokraft TPS kit: 203USD shipped Note: Shipping is to Switzerland, so prices for US would be a bit lower... PS. I replaced the GM knock sensor with a Bosch (ca. 65USD), details later

Some people have mounted their coil pack on the firewall, but I don't like the idea of drilling there and see some nuts from passenger side. Further it's a double wall, what didn't makes it easier.
Others have it on the engine itself, what I dislike too in cause of heat and vibrations. So I fitted the coils where CDI was before: ![]() As said before, I was thinking many hours where to fit the GM knock sensor. Because nothing suitable came into my mind I decided to switch to a Bosch sensor (0 261 231 006). To avoid noise from valve train, chain etc. I dropped the solution to mount at the heads, for example using the 993 bridge (no easy way to make some threads there) I have heard good results from fitting on crankcase and so I made a new for the throttle linkage bracket bolt (long word ) and could easily fit the sensor there:

Good god!
How BIG is that turbocharger?! (Makes the rest of the car look like a scale model )That cold side's enormous - what type is it? |

Some of you can maybe remember my whaletail-thread. Because the B6 intercooler did not fit under the wing, I made several changes. One was to shave of the injector blocks. Thus I had to shave the new ones too:
![]() To avoid heat transfer to the blocks/injectors, I all in all shorten blocks off 8mm and made some insulators of 5mm glassfiber sheet (epoxy based) Insulator left, cutoff piece on the right: ![]() ![]() The insulators are not finished yet, have to make cutouts for injector. There I found a little weakness compared to other blocks (at least I think so): The Blocks have the injector in a different angle in two dimensions than stock, so when I cut the spacer, it will not align to the cutout in the head. I don't think, there will be an issue, but it's a weak point at the blocks.

Here the inlet manifold with MAP sensor, TPS and Idle solenoid
![]() TPS from Turbokraft with longer shaft to link sensor: ![]() Selfmade bracket with rubber cushion against vibrations: ![]() No more need for cold start valve ![]() ![]() Injectors 550cc/min (from five-o #915550715550). Note: I had to machine the lower area (on pic left the last 7mm before cap), because you get measurements for both side seals, lenghth, but not the everything between, they were to thick in this area, could not slide in enough for correct fit. Now they do ![]() ![]() And here some more parts like fuel line, fuelrail , FPR and airfilter I will use:

Next I finished the spacers. Because of the angle of the injectors, I had to cut out a halfmoon out of vertical axle to get it line with the injector slot.
I used a chamfer with a selfmade bush to center up ![]() ![]() ![]() And here are the finished spacers ![]()

Today I fitted spacers, blocks, injectors, rails and manifold.
![]() ![]() Then some fuel lines. Looks like the one from rail to rail is a bit too long ![]()
