Does anyone have the temperature resistance values for this sensor?

If I remember correctly, it was about 1.8 at room temp...

Planning on installing a shift light. I am currently hooking up the vss sensor through the MS3 Pro. It will allow for the shift light to be activated by speed and gear.

Let us know exactly how you get the vss hooked up. I have not tried vss yet, but its on the list of things to do.

Got the VSS hooked up. Used the Digital Fequency In 1 input. Wired it to the Green wire in the transmission tunnel. Seems more accurate than the speedo. I will post my settings later tonight.

Here are the Speed and Gear Sensor settings.

My speedometer read about 7 mph faster VSS, but I knew my speedometer was off. I also found that the error was greater at low speeds verses high speeds. I ended up installing a speedometer calibrator upstream of my MS VSS input pick off to adjust the pulse rate into the speedometer. I am sure this affects the odometer readings also, but I do not put many miles on the car. My speedometer was rebuilt at one time and the dampening is a little stiff, so there is hysteresis to deal with when comparing speedometer readings to TS VSS readings. I have installed a Perfect Tuning gauge in place of my boost gage (in the clock location) where I can monitor several MS functions at one time including VSS, which makes it easier to see what is going on. I left all the boost gage plumbing in place (capped off) so I can revert back in the future if necessary.

Hi Dennis
Can you post some pics of the Perfect Tuning Gauge? Sounds interesting. Have you every explored the Raspberry PI? Thanks John

John,
I posted a thread of my install on 5/14/17. Here is a picture of it. A member of the Megasquirt forum developed and started producing these gauges. A fellow Pelican did not want the carbon fiber background, so he called Perfect Tuning to get one with matte black background. The gauge can display one function at a time up to four functions. I have three because I like the larger bottom display for my boost gauge. I have it in kpa right now, but it can be changed to psi if wanted. All MS engine functions are polled over the CAN bus. You just have select which ones you want when setting up the gauge. ![]()

The outer ring of LED's provide an analog effect, the higher the reading, the more LED's illuminate. There is a alarm feature where the LED's will blink when you exceed a function's limit (which you input when programing the gauges functions).
You can add separate 5vdc analog inputs such as exhaust temperature, and pressure sensors.

Hey Dennis
What wideband are you using? Regards John

John,
I am using an ALM-ADV wideband controller which uses the LSU-ADV sensor. The LSU-ADV sensor is the next step above the LSU 4.9 sensor. The controller uses the Bosch CJ-125 chip which is designed to work with Bosch LSU sensors. It seems to work very well, the response is fast and the signal does not have a lot of noise compared to the Innovate LC-1 I had installed previously. Plus I don't have to do free air calibrations. I contacted them when I ordered mine to get it built with the smaller ALM-CAN housing because I wanted to mount mine in the engine compartment. They have a CAN version, but when I ordered mine MS3 did not support 29 bit protocol. I think James has added that to MS3 now, but not sure how to set it up.

Definitely need to order one of these as well. What are you using for CLT? I am currently using a single wire Bosch CLT sensor. It seems to work fine up to 181 F, then it pegs on the display.
Was thinking of going to the 2 wire Bosch unit off Pelican.

John,
I actually made my CLT sensor. I ordered a couple of NTC thermistors from Mouser (for a spare) and mounted the element in the wire hole of a 3/8" wire terminal. I epoxied the element ends to secure in the terminal. I heat shirked the individual wire leads, brought them together, and heat shirked the leads together. I installed the wire terminal under the fan shroud at the forward most bolt that secures the fan shroud to the cam tower for the #1 cylinder. Before installing, I did a temperature calibration using ice water up to boiling water. The sensor has read over 225* in the car during hot restarts. When I first start the car (cold), the IAT and the CLT read exactly the same.

I'm going to try one of these with an AEM Infinity.

That's interesting... at what location would you place it? I'm looking for a alternative to the 1 wire Bosch sensor I've been struggling with... Philip

What resistance value was the thermistor? Was it a 10K? I was thinking I might build one of these. Here is a good video on thermistors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9opuvLXAetI Thanks John
