Have you ever known someone who is vain and yet they are fat? How does that make any sense? lol

Get out there and start walking. 30 minutes to start with and you'll soon see some results.
I can promise nothing bad will happen!

Its true, but the problem is in this chestnut: You cant outrun your diet.

That is not a totally different subject.

It is really cheap to eat healthy. It just takes a tad more effort. Bad choices are usually the easy way to go.

About a year ago I was a little heavy and decided I needed to lose a little weight. I ate a little less, and 25 pounds later, it is Christmas again.

That's true but walking is a great start!

Did you see the Lyft video in the other thread?

The woman was complaining to the driver because she had to walk less than 50 meters to the car.

True.

But burn enough calories through exercise and you can eat like an @zzhole, but not be a fat@zz.

The really horrifying thing about this (long time) trend is that I seriously doubt the pendulum will ever swing in the other direction.

It's a very serious issue. There will be more than 300,000,000 people in India with type 2 diabetes within 20 years and the Indian government has no idea how to deal with it.

How do GMOs affect insects?
https://ag.purdue.edu/GMOs/Pages/GMOsandInsects.aspx

Quote:
How do you make a crop pest-resistant? Scientists were able to modify the plant’s protein manufacturing system so that it now makes a protein that wasn’t previously present. This carefully selected protein is one that is toxic to certain insects. Basically, they eat it and their stomach ruptures. This protein is so specifically targeted towards certain pests that it doesn’t affect other insects, animals or humans that eat it. In fact, it is so specific that it doesn’t even impact "good" bugs, like bees or butterflies.
Mind the source, university textbooks going back to the 1970's have been clear that pesticides are for insects and herbicides (like Round-Up) are for plants. And humans are not affected by herbicides at all because we are animals not plants. Such a stunning introduction of false chemical industry propaganda into the halls of higher learning are embedded into every academic from the get go and are not questioned. In fact if anyone questions this wisdom they are to be laughed at and shunned.

Just like Moses is attempting to do now.

According to ag.purdue.edu I am correct, and this is from a GMO's are good pro-chemical industry source.

If you are willing to go outside the norm of corporate sponsored universities, you can read differing opinions on the topic.

Eating This Could Turn Your Gut Into a Living Pesticide Factory
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/bt-corn_b_2442072
Quote:
There can be little doubt that genetically-engineered crops are the most dangerous aspect of modern agriculture. Not only are we seeing rapid emergence of super-weeds resistant to glyphosate, courtesy of Roundup Ready crops, we now also have evidence of emerging Bt-resistant insects. Add to that the emergence of a brand new organism capable of producing disease and infertility in both plants and animals and a wide variety of evidence showing harm to human health, and the only reasonable expectation one can glean is that humanity as a whole is being seriously threatened by this foolhardy technology..................

Bt Corn: A Most Dangerous Failure

Monsanto's genetically-modified "Bt corn" has been equipped with a gene from soil bacteria called Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis), which produces the Bt toxin. It's a pesticide that breaks open the stomach of certain insects and kills them. This pesticide-producing corn entered the food supply in the late 1990s, and over the past decade, the horror stories have started piling up. And the problem with Bt crops go far beyond the creation of Bt-resistant insects.

Monsanto and the EPA swore that the genetically-engineered corn would only harm insects. The Bt toxin produced inside the plant would be completely destroyed in the human digestive system and would not have any impact at all on consumers, they claimed. Alas, they've been proven wrong on that account as well, because not only is Bt corn producing resistant "super-pests," researchers have also found that the Bt toxin can indeed wreak havoc on human health.
Quote:
Topical vs. Internal Toxins

Farmers have used Bt toxin from soil bacteria as a natural pesticide for years, and biotech companies have therefore claimed that Bt toxin has a "history of safe use in agriculture." But there's a huge difference between spraying it on plants, where it biodegrades in sunlight and can be carefully washed off, and genetically altering the plant to produce it internally.

Bt crops have the Bt toxin gene built in, so the toxin cannot be washed off. You simply cannot avoid consuming it. Furthermore, the plant-produced version of the poison is thousands of times more concentrated than the spray.
Like I said above, if you are willing to go outside the norm by reading articles/blogs like the one posted you can at least find out what others think.

The above article quoted was written by:
Quote:
By Dr. Joseph Mercola, Contributor
Physician and author
I looked him up, and he's definitely that outside voice I was trying to explain.

Just getting off of the chair, and turning the TV off will help many poeple. A 59 year old boss in a different department (not mine) is 500+ pounds, and lazy. He has his wife deliver McDs breakfast, brings a Hungry Man, and several sodas for lunch, and then goes out for dinner every day. He took a full week off in November to online play the new FortNight game (or whatever it was called), and didn't leave the house for the full week.

From what I see daily in the MidWest, is many obese people who really own their problem, and do absolutely nothing to better themselves. I see these people routinely eat twice as much, and twice as fast as I do (i'm 5'10" 190#), and just veg on the couch with their phones afterwards.

Exposure to Glyphosate, Chemical Found in Weed Killers, Increased Over 23 Years
October 24, 2017 | Yadira Galindo
https://health.ucsd.edu/news/releases/Pages/2017-10-24-exposure-to-glyphosate-chemical-found-in-weed-killer-increased-over-23-years.aspx?ref=marketbulletin
Quote:
Analyzing samples from a prospective study, University of California San Diego School of Medicine researchers found that human exposure to glyphosate, a chemical widely found in weed killers, has increased approximately 500 percent since the introduction of genetically modified crops.

“The data compares excretion levels of glyphosate and its metabolite aminomethylphosphonic acid in the human body over a 23-year time span, starting in 1993, just before the introduction of genetically modified crops into the United States,” said Paul J. Mills, PhD, UC San Diego School of Medicine professor of Family Medicine and Public Health and director of the Center of Excellence for Research and Training in Integrative Health.

Glyphosate is a key ingredient in the herbicide brand Roundup. Use of this herbicide has increased approximately 15-fold since 1994, when genetically modified “Roundup Ready” glyphosate-tolerant crops were introduced. Historically, it is used on genetically modified soy and corn, but it is also sprayed on a substantial portion of wheat and oats grown in the U.S., said Mills.

“Our exposure to these chemicals has increased significantly over the years but most people are unaware that they are consuming them through their diet.”........

I agree, but it is an uphill battle because the playing field has been tilted against us.

Some people just find it easier to roll downhill.

Nonsense.

When I was doing a lot of cycling, I had a hard time eating enough to keep weight on me. Was also about 25# more than I am now, with body fat right around 5%. I had epic legs then, had to wear freakin' MC Hammer pants if it was cold.

Obesity epidemic is a combo of sedentary and horrible diet.

We have waaaay too many peoples on this planet.
The subject of this thread is simply nature fixing that problem.

People don't live forever and that's a good thing.
If their bad habits reduce the average lifespan, so be it.
We can use the space.
Did that sound harsh and cold?

And Kach, I know you read all that stuff on the interwebs but geez... turn up the filter.

I’d like to sort out your misunderstandings, but once you quoted Dr. Mercola it became clear that the task would exceed my patience.

You focus on the negative to much. This will shorten your life as much as anything I've posted so far.

Chronic Negativity Can Literally Kill You, Science Shows
https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/science-the-negative-people-in-your-life-are-literally-killing-you.html

Yea one article posted features a doctor on the fringe as I warned, but that doesn't mean he's wrong. He cites some real studies, studies that rarely get funded because they rock the boat.

Really easy to say one has no point when the funding to make that point is severely limited.

Meanwhile the mice and rats in the lab die, and the deniers say you got nothing but dead rats.

Or as Moses puts it; GMO's don't rupture insects stomachs.............then changes the subject when proven wrong.

Nice move Ex-Lax.

I'll stand with Moms Across America before the medical establishment and the CDC.

Or at least Autism?.........

Moms Across America has over 350 testimonials from Moms and over 1 million supporters a month who say that their kids get better when they get off GMOs and eat organic ( no glyphosate). Please heed this warning of a national crisis. We moms know that*scientist SAY GMOs and glyphosate are safe, but we also know that Moms are SEEING that their kids health improve when they avoid them That is science enough for us.
And some doctors stand with them as well.

Enough with the GMO debate...

I have been with skinny girls and girls with a little "meat on their bones" and hands down the girls with a few extra pounds were more fun in and out of the bedroom.
