There have to be other sites. No?
In order of which site has the most up to date info.

Autosport.com the live section is good for keeping track of testing times/news
Grandprix.com
Pitpass.com

I used to compile a competitor design analysis report after pouring over for days the team's test and race spy photo's. The report was distributed from the top to the bottom of the F1 team I worked at

Before everyone goes boooo hoooo that's so unfair , all teams do it but maybe not to the level of detail we did

Before sending out my report I'd do one final check to see if I'd missed anything by looking through this forum which has a good thread for each team's car
www.f1technical.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=15

I figured why not harness the collective eyes of a whole world of F1 fanatics, on more than one occasion a little something extra was added

He'll have to just stay in the pits.

Thats cool and not surprising at all. How can you turn down free intel on your competitors?

This is also why the top teams make livery reveals instead of the final version of the car reveals.

Not quite right, main reason for not showing the real parts on the reveal is to hold off the manufacturing of the first test aero components to very last minute to allow the wind tunnel to have as much development time as possible

Most teams will be working 24 hrs a day on the final manufacturing stages and load testing/validation of next weeks test wing packages this weekend

These parts will be flown out/driven over night to hopefully make it to at least one of the days of running

Captain are you close enough to the teams to get a sense of how the teams feel about Liberty taking over the sport ? Or what they think of what Liberty wants to do with the sport ? As an example I read an online report from Horner basically saying Liberty bit off more than they can chew and really haven't put on paper the " vision " of the sport moving forward . Your thoughts ?

Do you have a very dated report that you could share to see what is going on behind the scenes?

Sorry no, didn't even keep a report back for myself

When I leave a team I make sure I take with me the only thing I brought into the team when starting, which is myself

My thoughts on Liberty?? Like or loathe Bernie he built up F1 from nothing to everything, Liberty have bought everything and so far have done nothing

On my visa when I went to Japan with Honda, my occupation was written down as 'Entertainer', that is what F1 is about. Unfortunately most senior people within F1 forget this as they are so busy chasing their own selfish individual/team goals they tend to lose track of the the fact.

Hopefully Liberty can make the show more exciting but it will be a big challenge for them

^Do you think the new aero rules will promote closer and theoretically more exciting racing?

I could be misremembering, but I seem to recall a period where the part of the car that had to be checked in advance, crash testing, etc, would be on display from some teams.

But the bolt ons such as the wings would still not be according to the new rule book.

Now it seems every reveal is last years car in a new wrap/livery.

I'm going on record as predicting a total collapse at Williams.
They are at least weeks behind everyone else.
While other teams are competing for fastest lap, Williams is working on seat fitment for drivers with NO test laps so far. They have not been on track yet but there are rumors that they have started the car's engine in the garage.

Either they are playing a sly cat and mouse game and have discovered the magic, or they are falling apart in front of our eyes.

I hope I am completely wrong about this.

When you put it in those terms, Sammy, it reminds me of Marussia/HRT/Caterham...

Maybe they need an upgraded engine, what they're using now (below) is a bit outdated IMO

The front nose and rear impact structures only need a 300mm wide section of front main plane or rear lower wing bolted on when crash testing

New cars are only just built in time or in Williams case not built in time. Photo shoots of the real car are usually done in the early hours before everything leaves the factory for Barcelona and are considered a disruptive inconvenience to the build/transporting schedule

LOL that reminds me of the movie Joe Dirt.
At the end of the movie Charlene says "do you really think that slant 6 can beat this Hemi"?
The Trans Am has a 6.6 decal on the hood scoop. And it has a magic windshield that fixes itself after getting shattered with rocks.
Besides, the slant six was a Chrysler engine!
Course, Joe's "67 hemi road runner" was wrong also.
It's a 67 GTX, road runners didn't come out until '68 and didn't look anything like the car in that movie.
And don't get me started on all the problems with his parents' rambler station wagon in the show.

I'm sorry, what were we talking about again?

...talking about Williams finally hitting the track today. Put a few laps in without issues. Drew lots of attention by the look of the crowd around their garage.

Everyone loves an underdog, hope they do well this year. A win or podium would be nice!

The draw for Williams this year ( in my opinion ) is not only the team being an underdog but Kubica being an underdog due to his injury . I think a LOT of folks myself included will be pulling for him . I think the expectations may be set too high for him to come out of the gate like nothing has happened . I would just like to see competitive results and the team getting better . We are not that far from the start of the season .
