I absolutely adore Frank. And he's probably the only man I could say that about.
Still remember the Saudia days with Alan Jones (although I never cared much for him). BTW IMO Miami sucks. Dozens of better venues for F1. We don't need another flat circuit or street race. No matter how trendy. Besides as NOTA says in parf- it'll be under water in just a few years. Last edited by cairns; 10-16-2019 at 03:08 PM.. |

I went to the laughable race in the parking lot at Ceasar's in the day. Can only imagine what a "modern" parking lot race will look like. Ugh

I went to a Ceasar's F1 race too. I remember it more for the sound of the cars than the crappiness of the track.

So apparently Renault had automatic brake bias adjustment?
https://www.planetf1.com/news/renault-facing-suspension-if-found-guilty/ You'd think they'd have a faster car...

I can really see Miami as a second street race. It could rival Monoco as the premier race on the small streets of a beautiful city in a nice climate. Biscayne blvd. is a nice long avenue, lots of money close by, and a list of beautiful people lining the streets, just what the new owners are looking for. I myself, would go there long before I would go to Austin. It would be something like the old Long Beach F1 race.

btw the stadium is in a middle class part black area all single family homes
we have hoods but none really near there still not a good location for a track or a good track layout homestead oval road course sucks less but the damm thing should be downtown the old gp sports car tracks downtown were better [ they changed every year] but the heat arena killed that + a shopping mall that said I finally get a real miami GP worse case |

to bad they can't shut down the cloverleaf [I95+826+FL-TP]
NOW THAT WOULD BE A TRACK but then the city would gridlock |

Make it run the I-95 to 836 to the 826 and back to 95. (if I got that right.) it's like an F1 race on those roads anyway.

Downtown Long Beach was not a tourist destination with its seedy bits (original track passed an adult theater) before F1 came to town. Maybe Miami is hoping for the same affect.

Haas manager Steiner on the teams issues
So Steiner say's he and the team know why they are off the pace , they can't consistently get and keep heat in the tires . This article doesn't say how long he and the team have known this but he's indicating that the remaining races do not look good for the team . If they have some things to try wouldn't they want to try them NOW to see what works or doesn't work ? He's indicating they want to make sure next years car is better , how do you do that without trying things ? Do you completely rely on wind tunnel testing ? Or engineering CAD modeling ? Isn't that the same tools that got you to this years car ???

Wondering what's gonna happen with the teams "stretching the rules" (some have said outright cheating), all that before the 2021 deal, and nobody exactly beating at the door to join F1...
Renault with their brake bias by GPS (supposedly), unless it's something cleverer and skirting the edge of the rules... Ferrari with their "controlled oil leak into the combustion chamber" boosting the engine. Teams know so much about one another now, with GPS, sound analysis and mature engine techs that should all converge to a set HP number, they know what can be achieved and what cannot... It's crazy, cool and sad at the same time... I bet the FIA sides with "Clever and not illegal, but illegal from now on" to preserve current participants and not have another cheating scandal! |

I got his autograph as a fan at an LBGP after he retired. I was walking in the crowd and saw him. I thought "holy *****", that's Keke Rosberg F1 World Champion, whats he doing out and about? He was kind and accommodating.
