Redoing the bathroom.
Tub to shower and full tile on all walls. Put in the new shower valve today. I have a mental block that makes it hard for me to do stuff that requires me to turn off the water, so the body was sweated on the bench and tied into what’s there afterwards. Clearly I’m no plumber, but in my defense it’s pressurized and holds without leaking…

I decided to tear down my last bathroom, circa 1984, and rebuild the entire project. I removed the floor tile, toilet, bathtub, drywall, plumbing, and wiring and am in the process of the rebuild.
Here are a few photos of the outdated bathroom prior to my hammer and prybar:

I added blocking so I can install a grab bar sometime in the future. In other photos, I placed a measuring tape near the blocking so I would be able to locate it in the future. I did this for the vertical shower bar that supports that handheld water feature as well.

I ordered a custom Redi Tile shower pan for the base. The University of YouTube showed me how to plan for the location of the new shower drain by using hot glue and cardboard furring strips to make a template for the drain location.

I and a friend installed the shower pan and lined up the drain pipe after using S Type Mortar to stabilize and embed the shower pan.

I added metal protective plates on the studs containing electrical romex wiring to prevent screws from penetrating them when I installed the Kerdi Board in the shower area.

I installed the Kerdi Board in the shower area and cut the banding to length to waterproof the seams and screw holes.

I went overboard applying the banding to ensure there are no leaks and installed more blocking for installation of a towel bar outside the shower after the tiling is complete. Again, I photographed the area with a tape measure next to it so I remembered the location.

I installed a shower corner and additional banding on the outside of the shower pan.

I installed an exhaust fan and a new pre-hung door. I installed the new Delta shower valves and plumbed it with Pex A. I installed a GFCI protected outlet for my wife's new bidet.
I have minor touch ups to do and paint the ceiling today. I hired tilers to complete the job starting on Monday, December 1st. After they are finished, I'll install the toilet and bidet, finishing shower fixtures, towel rack. The only thing left to do after that is to hire a company to install dual pass shower doors. Overall the project was a lot of work, but it kept me busy for a month and a half while I am retired. I know some of you out there have waaaaay more skills than I do at renovations. I did my best and I absolutely know it will work fine. Rock on, David

Nothing near as adventurous as a bathroom remodel, I just installed a new door handle on the man door to the garage. The old one was a knob style that was not retracting the 'bolt' all the way so made the door hard to open. My wife spotted the Amazon order I made yesterday for the new handle, so it's not a surprise to her, and admitted to me she'd been feeling 'unsafe' about how the old one operated.
You guys must be getting to me. I actually redid the initial install and used a level on the escutcheon around the handle to get it level. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the tumbler out of the old door knob so I can throw it away without giving up the secret of what our keying is for the locks.

Replaced the negative battery connection on the F150 today. Also, replaced the big fuses on the positive battery connection.
I want to replace the positive connection, but I’m not sure how to crimp the positive wire to the connection. If I’m able to crimp it, would it be a good idea to solder it as well? ![]() Also added bigger horn to compliment my weak sauce horn on the F150. 😂

Stick with a proper crimp for that.
