Back in the day when I was working McDonnell Douglas, St. Louis, one of the test pilots had to land an F15 and catch the cable 'cause he lost hydraulic pressure. He got the Golden Boot award for that too. And yes, St. Louis does have a runway with arresting gear on runway 6.

Here is a Google Earth image of the arresting cable for RWY 6. It is kept below the surface until needed. I wonder how often they have to service the arresting cable to make sure it is ready when needed.

Finally got to go flying. I had to send my starter off for rebuild, so between that and lousy weather it’s been 3 weeks.

Took off during a rain shower and that peeled a bit of paint off my prop. But it was good to be back in the air. Plane flew great and the starter was definatly the problem.

The wife is taking a girls trip next week and the golf coarse is closed for maintenance, so I’ll be making up for lost time next week. Now if the damn thunderstorms would just stay away.

Hey Congrats of gettin her back into the air. It will be your duty to smash bugs and convert fuel into exhaust. Bravo! I truly know how it feels to be staring at “hangar art”.
I removed the C-150’s cowling to do a visual inspection of everything top to bottom. Things looked all in order after about 30 logged flights since the 13th of July. Making up for lost time these past couple of years. Being able to commute to work seriously helps, even though it’s a short “direct to” & “enter” flight.

I also stopped for some fuel, the 225hp Debonair is the only fuel injected engine with a STC for Mogas. I paid $2.61 for ethanol free vs $3.99 for 100ll

Something I've always appreciated about Bonanzas- The cowl opens up so wide.
Good look around the engine every preflight when checking the oil.

So many others have a tiny door right above the oil filler cap/dipstick. Nothing is visible but the oil cap.
Gotta get out the toolbox just to inspect the engine compartment.
Beechcraft builds good airplanes.

ADS-B receivers and phantom traffic alerts.

For those of yo that have been using the portable ADS-B receivers in your aircraft such as Sentry, Stratus, Stratux, or any of the handful available to GA pilots, have you experienced phantom, traffic alerts via your Electronic devices?

I imagine that by repositioning the receiver in the aircraft, might allow better antenna location but I was also wondering if this is something "prone" to the portable units. I have been getting a rash of phantom alerts recently and the only thing I can come up with is unit location, but it has been just been in the past couple of days and the receiver hasn't moved. Either that it could be those pesky "TICTACKS" and due to the speeds involved, I am just not seeing them....LOL! I am running a Stratux so I know that is an experimental ADS-B receiver and I have been eyeing the "Sentry" by Uavionix, so that brought up the question if the phantoms are prone to all of the devices. Anyone care to chime in on this?

Took the wifey for a flight last night and as I was doing the pre-flight, CDF bombers went screaming by close to pattern altitude headed to a spot fire south of our field. I would really hate to get a phantom alert only to see one of these fast movers headed in from another direction. As they say, the C-150 is the only aircraft that can take a birdstrike from the rear.

Something about a shinny starter that makes you smile. Yikes! the paint removed looks worse than I thought it would have for rain. Must of been think chunky rain, lol.
