In Goodyear AZ this week to export a vintage 777 to Suriname. They're using it to fill an uplift void until their new 787 order is filled. This 777 aged as it is still represents a big step forward in capability for Suriname Airways.

The perfect winglet installed on a Falcon 50. Unfortunately it can't be produced or installed economically. It did prove the concept though.

Icing certification tests, 737-700 Scimitar Winglets. This is the worst case condition, ice 'shapes' installed on all heated leading edge surfaces. The aircraft then demonstrates max condition take-offs, holding patterns, go-arounds, etc. Pass or fail. This model as did all 737's, passed.

Aircraft ferry from US West Coast to Australia, via Hawaii. Short range aircraft like this SAAB 340 need both added fuel tanks and HF radio kits installed. I work with a company (a pilot) that owns the tank and radio system including the approvals. He is constantly traveling to move these types around. Tanks feed from differential cabin pressure, no pumps required. The pilot, an Australian gentleman, says he has no problem getting plenty of sleep en route. As long as it stays noisy in the cabin...

^^my friend who owns the Long-EZ uses a 60 gallon flexible fuel bladder in the rear seat to extend his range over the ponds. He has made a few cross country runs testing loading, fuel burn maximum landing and takeoff weight calculations. They look identical to those in your pics. He is in the planning phase of his around the world flight. The bladder is made from a company either in Australia or New Zealand. With the added capacity, he will have a range of approx 4,000 NM.

Here's a tank installation for a Lancair, this is for its second round the world flight, southern route this time. On this installation the pilot has to pressurize the tank with a bicycle pump - you can see the valve on top of the tank, and turn the shut of valve to on. It has been over the north pole as well.

Don’t have any pics, but I saw something very similar in a twin Diamond-Star being shuttled over to Japan. The guy was at the Tracy Airport and the tank was installed in such a way, we were thinking it was tig welded in place. It was interesting to see the different external antenna and other electronics installed for the trip.

I know it is a long shot, but did you know a guy named Howie Price - Connie guy and an amazingly fine person.

When I was at Whiting Field in helo school, the T-34C guys I flew with would call and see if I wanted back seat time for form chase. Never missed an opportunity:

Seahawk - I don't remember Howie Price but I sure remember the T-34. Great little plane. I flew the T-34B which means I predate you. I was in class 45-65. Got my wings on my birthday 07/67. Super proud day.

Aviation related: I've been bingeing Plane savers... From mikey@Buffalo, a follow up to ice pilots... They bought a DC3 and are restoring it with volunteers and filming the process... It's slow going at first but so cool to see the bird pass its engine tests, see the avionics come back on, gear tests, all on youtube (on TV) and free... If you crave some aviation content you can do worse !

AOCS class 04/83...wings in late 84. My Dad was the featured speaker. He was in Reagan's Cabinet as Acting DOE Sec and I had to let them know he would be attending.

The XO of HT-18 was a Marine LtCol who invited my Dad to speak. I asked him why and then said I'd prefer he not speak.

The XO said, and I am cleaning this up a bit: "Ensign, if I wanted your opinion, I'd retire for cause..."

Add some F's and Shiite Heads, etc...I still know him, btw, and he never forgets to remind me what a tool bag I was.

I am over my Dad's right shoulder, back row. Pilots are in the mean tiny people.



He gave a very nice speech, under 10 minutes, and he made sure that, while, as a West Point grad, 1952, he was still proud of the USMC and Navy pouges. Great day.
