Is there any need for that since they have the 911 RSR that is mid engined?

And for the street, you can have the GT4 in mid-engine config or if you want more, you can gave one of the GT3 variants.

Well done tech and engine position!

The outside I like from all angles, but the rear. What happened there? 20 people all picked a feature and they just stacked it all on top of each other? I am disappointed in the exhaust pipe exit locations as well, very 90s.

I think the interior looks great, a bit outlandish, big contrast to earlier models that had very common car interiors. I like the experiment with the row of switches. Could have done with a round steering wheel, maybe ...

Worst thing about it is the lack of a manual transmission. That's an automatic (no pun intended) turnoff for me. Maybe they will see the light when the model is up for a refresh? It'd need a different console for sure.

If this comes out for 60k or less, they will be giving away the earlier models on the used market. A C7 Z06 in a couple years? Buying opportunity?

I'm sure it drives great, but in profile its proportions are soooo similar 20 other supercars... especially the roofline and sideglass.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it just reminds me of all the beautiful concept drawings of mid-engined 'Vettes we've been teased with over the decades.

I haven't read through this thread, so apologies if someone else has already made this point.

Yes if your talking about the one that was started in February and is up to 120 pages as of today. I was surprised to see so many corvette fans over there And not much bashing

Agree the C8 interior is weird, but will have to see it. Good to read they are using a dry sump system. Lots of neat tech in the beast.

As always with GM, the devil will be in the details.
Modern auto's a whole different ball game to the two or three speeds perhaps some of you grew up with.

Since I can have multiple cars, I like having one of them a modern auto.

At a $60K price point, you could get both a C8 and a manual C5 together for less than the price of a new 911.

That’s why my daily driver has a five speed automatic in it. Notice I said automatic, not PDK.

That’s not what I would want for a fun car, give me a manual gearbox every time.

I don’t mind the shape, nor do I care that it’s become somewhat common. When I can’t stand is the obnoxious, busy, irrational detailing which is superimposed upon it, you won’t find that on the others. There’s a little of it on the Acura, but the Japanese can never get a car 100% right. The Corvette team has really screwed the pooch on the ass end of the new Corvette.

My opinion is changing the more I watch videos and see the car up close. I think this is a car that will be much more impressive in person. I’ll never get over the tai lights though. And I’ve concluded that while the interior is not what I think of as great car design, I gotta admit that sitting behind the wheel seems like a fun place to be. Maybe because I’m a 70s/8s kid and it sorta speaks to the star wars fan in me. I’m looking forward to seeing one on the street, hopefully in black

The fact that I’m even thinking about this corvette bodes well for them because I have never ever given them a second thought until now. I’m a die hard old school German and Italian spots car fan

Don't aerodynamics and the mid engined layout dictate that to a degree.

I've had similar experiences with other cars in the past. All of the photos that you see in the magazines either having you think "that looks awful" or "that looks great" and then when you finally see one in person, you think, "wow, wtf? It's completely different in person to the photos."

That photo above of the corvette In That dark grey or whatever it is looks much better than red or white to me, probably because the black trim pieces blend in better. I like that a lot

I think it may just be a more "ordinary" photo, instead the stylized magazine stuff.

It looks good because the light level on the car is generally dark.

The wheels look a little small , but I have a feeling it’s going to look hideous when the aftermarket “rims” go on .

Personally , I’d try lowering it 25mm and try some 7mm spacers then see what happens .
Maybe some thin-spokes that go all the way it to the rim .

No chrome or spinners though ....
