Hellcats--they can't give 'em away?
Apparently Dodge Hellcats are pretty slow sellers. Tonight I ran a search of new Challenger Hellcats for sale on Autotrader and got over 500 hits nationwide. That is a ton of unsold inventory. Dodge is now advertising a $100/hp discount, but some advertisements are showing discounts of up to $13K.

Same happened to the '19 Bullitt Mustang...at first dealers were asking and getting additional markup. Today, being discounted.
On these "special" models by makers, it seem those who want them get them, then the market is saturated. That said, car sales are off generally...not boom times for dealerships of any make.

Not great news for the new widebody chargers.

Maybe the economy is slowing, and folks don't actually need an 800 HP commuter car, along with the elevated insurance rates.

The reality of the Hellcat is that it’s a niche halo car that helps sell base model Chargers. So if Dodge is still moving the base and R/T inventory then I suspect they are happy.

Something I learned is that GM commonly can't sell all of it's cars from year to year. They even have a program to subsidize dealerships that pays the dealership money to essentially convert unsold cars to "used" cars. Some of these "new" cars are years old.
My F-I-L works at a Toyota dealership, but the owner of the dealership also owns a Cadillac/GMC dealership. They have brand-new Cadillacs on the lot now that are 2017 models.

If I drive to a porsche dealership can buy a new gt3rs for MSRP without a wait? Asking in case that 243% raise comes in.

The other thing is that the Hellcat and derivatives have been out for five model years now. As much as many enthusiasts would like one, there has to be a finite market for 700+ hp sedan/coupe. It could be that after 25,000 or so units, the market place has been satiated?

2007 2 2006 58 2005 206 That is not a profitable car. They only sold 170 in 2018. Porsche sold almost 10,000 911s in 2018. Honda ain't going broke over NSX sales. Porsche has been the most profitable car company on the planet for many years. They never have a "sale" or rebate program to sell the cars. There is a local GT2RS for sale that is just 100K over MSRP.

I'm not sure I agree here on this as those cars had outrageous styling for the day and most were equipped with 440's. It was the style ( and cost) that did them in.
So much so some were 'converted' with conventional front ends and removed the giant wing to move them. I see the hellcats and related as outrageous performance all the way-round with pretty good looks, MO.

Yeah the dealers jacked up the launch price to ridiculous levels, now they can’t give them away (Supras)

They did have brutally low interest rates in the early 90's around when they almost collapsed.

The 993, (plus a rebounding economy), saved them. They lowered the list price significantly from the last 964s to the 993. They fazed out the 928 and 944 cars and of course the Boxster landed in '96, (as a '97 model), and the rest is history. The 964 of course has gone from being the red-headed stepchild of 911s to highly desirable, w prices to match. The last years of the 964 were significantly better cars than the early ones and are highly sought after but there is close to zero supply because they hardly sold any of them at the time. In 1986, a record sales year for Porsche before the water cooled cars, they sold 30k cars in the U.S. In 1994, I think they sold 3k cars. ![]() Anyhow...just some Porsche trivia since this used to be part of a Porsche forum.

I don't follow such things too much but a friend suggested this is because of the new Corvette.
He's also seeing an uptick in the sale of used Vipers etc.
