I remember my mom buying cottage cheese with pineapple from the store. Don't remember the brand. OTOH, I don't like it, but used cc in place of ricotta when I made lasagna.

Try it with fresh, diced tomatoes, lots of freshly ground pepper and a little salt.

I don't have it often. I'm not sure why, but I grew up with it. As a kid, I mostly had cottage cheese with fruit, usually peaches, pineapple or pears, sometimes fruit cocktail.

My dad used to make what we called a dip with cottage cheese. IIRC, it was blended in a blender until it was smooth, then grated carrots, chopped bell pepper, chopped green onions and a bunch of black pepper were added. I think he'd eat it in a bowl with a spoon, but I used it as a dip for potato chips, I think.

I think my mom also used it in lasagna instead of ricotta.

Every once in a while I'll get a craving and get some, but we don't keep it around. No specific reason, possibly other than that I don't think anyone else eats it.

Oh yeah. The tomatoes have to be right out of the garden though.

My lunch often includes cottage cheese. A little ham sammich with just enough crusty bread to keep my fingers out of the mayo, cold B&M baked beans, kettle cooked potato chips, and some cottage cheese.

I'm particular about tomatos. I'm pretty good with whatever as long as they are cooked. If they are raw, then I'm mostly not a fan. I have found that I almost universally like grape tomatos (but not cherry). I've had a few raw tomatos that I have liked, but most of the time, I just don't care for the flavor a whole lot. I've tried them when someone brought some from their garden and the stuff that they sell these days as "heirloom" and others.

I do remember reading a while back that tomatos have been bred to be nicely shaped and a nice uniform dark red, but in the process, no one considered the taste/flavor, so they don't taste as good as they used to.

Is the Hungarian type any better? Don't know if I've ever seen it in the store.

Hungarian is good, but I prefer the smoked myself.

I put the smoked paprika in hamburgers, and I put it over popcorn with a litlle chipotle chili.

I like it with just salt and pepper. I don't like the wallpaper paste textured stuff, but the curds and whey stuff.

Dad eats his with Western or French dressing on it.
