Almost Banned Once

I bought a pair years ago... Wore them for about 90 seconds and then gave them to my mum. She uses them exclusively for her garden.
I can't stand that squishy feeling when you put your weight on them.

Chacos forever. I'd run a 5k in them, if I ran...

Edit...Oops forgot a black pair of UK Doc Martins, they are at least 20 years old and still comfortable, but looking tired. Guys don't look at shoes right? My wife loves me regardless Years ago I flew into Omaha in January, my travel footwear is again...flip flops...surprise! Car rental was outside, around the parking garage. I think it was 5F and flurries of snow, my toes were pretty cold. LOL. Last edited by JavaBrewer; 06-02-2020 at 05:54 PM.. |

Uh no. Reminds me of erasers for the feet. I did see Crog juice in a shoe store once and that concerned me a bit.
BUT I do wear Lifeguard approved OluKai Eleu's. Been through some Vibram 5 Finger KSO's and BG 3 Toes.

Resisted for a long time. Finally bought a pair for Boundary Waters trips for knocking around camp and canoe fishing on layover days. Lot better protection than mocs for bottoms of feet and stubbed toes.
Now at my place up north for fishing when temps permit. Handy for wading and great for getting my boat on and off the trailer at most area landings where gravel or hooks can be hard on bare feet. Like the spotty tan pattern they create.

Thorogood 6" moc toe 80% of the time. I rotate 2 pair. The other 20% in Top Siders or sneakers when I go out and don't feel like wearing boots. Best sneakers (what we still call tennis shoes here in CA) are Puma or Over Under. They weigh mere ounces.
Someone on the Garage Journal recommended Caterpillar low rise work shoes. Worst shoes I have ever owned but they are tough. Now that they are broken in (broken down) they aren't too bad. Why did I keep wearing them? Don't really know except they weren't cheap. |

No I only wear some sort of trail running shoe by Solomon, or a boot made by Ecco "biom". Or steel toe and steel sole work boots.
Sandals remind me of Sammy Caballero in first grade. Poor kid, his parents were from the Italian old country. His lunch every day was hard salami on dry bread with cheese. And soup. He couldn't play soccer because his mom made him wear damn sandals. |

I had been given Crocs for gifts when they first came out. Immediately went to the 'Donate" pile , no thanks.
But after awhile, being in fish camp, they replaced Keens (PITA), flip flops (too many rocks and stones) and have been my "go to" casual camp shoes and ended up being some of my favorite shoes around the house. But ya gotta go Realtree/ Camo, and no socks. In fact, I'm fly fishing in Kernville right now, rocking the Crocs....

A lot of guys use them when surf fishing here in California. Spend enough time on the beach and you get the holes showing up as tan lines. They call it "Crocs Pox".

I bought a pair many years ago. Comfy, but butt ugly.
