The George Inn, built in 1676, is London's only surviving galleried inn.
Saved by the National Trust, the Grade 1 listed building was once a drinking den for Williams Shakespeare and Charles Dickens

Many people don't realize that a young Linda Blair played piano.

First Americans museum in Oklahoma City

Going to the beach with style in 1915. Pretty sexy there!

The enormous T10 Mine Exploder, based on the Sherman tank. It was fitted with giant steel wheels that would roll over and hopefully detonate mines below while being tough enough to withstand the blast. Their size allowed the tank to be kept high up off the ground, keeping it away from the blast. Smaller rollers at the rear trailed behind and cleared the gap left by the front wheels. https://tankhistoria.com/experimental/t10-mine-exploder/

British troops and American Rangers meet on the Anzio-Rome road in Italy on January 23, 1944.

Don't go down that road soon. Back up.

I read a great book about these brave men.

Belton Cooper, the author, was among the many tasked with the "recovery, repair, and maintenance" of US battle tanks etc during WWII. They were unarmed, but as they were having to repair equipment in the heat of battle, the "front line" was often very fluid when they had to fix or tow a tank. Consequently they often found themselves (what had become) behind enemy lines, and so they had high casualty rates.

Further, the author suggests that if not for the poor Southern farm boys (shade-tree mechanics all), who'd grown up having to fix whatever they owned, we'd have been in pretty sorry shape.

A good read FWIW.

Dickens maybe. But Shakespeare was long gone decades before 1676.

Random - the Mule Car that moved passengers uphill and down the main street of my hometown - before the area and the tracks were electrified:

Legend has it that when electricity came the mules were retired and sold to a local farmer, who claimed they would only pull uphill.

This gas line happened to be laid straight through the skull of an Anglo Saxon woman. This woman, discovered in 2014, was one of over 100 skeletons found in a 6th century CE Anglo Saxon cemetery under a primary school playground in the village of Oakington in Cambridgeshire

Mannie Hyman’s saloon is where Doc Holliday’s last gunfight takes place. Leadville puts Tombstone, Arizona Territory, in the shade, with its 120 saloons, 118 gambling halls, 110 beer gardens and 35 brothels. Check out the contraption on the boardwalk next to the clock. It is an early electric meter; Leadville first got electricity in 1883!

The 5"/25 (127 mm) battery aboard the U.S. Navy battleship USS New Mexico (BB-40) prepares to fire during the bombardment of Saipan, 15 June 1944.
Note the time-fuze setters on the left side of each gun mount, each holding three "fixed" rounds of ammunition; the barrels of 20 mm machine guns at the extreme right; and triple the 14"/50 (34.5 cm) guns in the background.

B-17 waist gunner, look at all those spent shells at his feet! Must have gotten tricky staying on target slipping on all those shells! The average life expectancy of a B-17 crew member was only about 11 missions.

IWO JIMA.
Vehicles on Iwo Jima's Red Beach, circa 25 February 1945, with USS LST-884 (center) and USS LST-929 (at left, with H markings on her hull) unloading in the background. Among the vehicles are trucks, mobile cranes, amphibious tractors (LVTs), jeeps and a variety of trailers. A field artillery piece is being pulled along in the right center. Note the pierced steel matting roadways. The original photograph came from Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison's World War II history project working files. Official U.S. Navy Photograph.
