Get off my lawn!
|
![]() ![]() ![]() Back when I was still in high school, the local newspaper asked me to photograph the high school game of the school I attended. They asked for facial expressions of the quarterback, with a ball in hand about to throw. My boss at my first job set me up with a 500CM, pentaprism slightly different to that one, and 500 MM lens all with a pistol grip. I had to raise that 100 pounds, (OK, not 100 but damn heavy) to me eye to fire off rounds. Oh, and I did not get the light little 12 exposure film back, I had the 70mm long roll attachment. I got a photo that was run on the front off the sports page, and my arm ached for a week after. Tri-X film, push processed to 1,600. It came out great. I wish I kept a copy of that photo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() “A Navy Chief noticed a new seaman and barked at him, “Get over here! What’s your name sailor?”“John,” the new seaman replied.“Look, I don’t know what kind of bleeding-heart pansy crap they’re teaching sailors in boot camp nowadays, but I don’t call anyone by his first name,” the chief scowled. “It breeds familiarity, and that leads to a breakdown in authority. I refer to my sailors by their last names only; Smith, Jones, Baker, whatever. And you are to refer to me as ‘Chief’. Do I make myself clear?”“Aye, Aye Chief!”“Now that we’ve got that straight, what’s your last name?”The seaman sighed. “Darling, My name is John Darling, Chief.”“Okay, John, here’s what I want you to do.” ![]() Nova… ![]() |

WTF? How drunk do you have to be before you don't notice a boat that big in front of you and hit it?
