It looks like they amended that law 3 years ago and I missed it. Was not reported well at all. Guess they decided they did not want to lose that lawsuit.

If you loan a firearm to a friend for a period where it is outside of your control they must already be a registered firearm owner with a completed background check. It is a muddy area and I am not sure if this must go through an FFL to be legal. I am not comfortable with this and I think it is easily misinterpreted so I won't do it. We can thank the San Bernardino shooter for this one. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs#1

So, you actually can loan a gun in CA at the range when you are present?
These laws are super confusing and constantly changing. G |

And that is done deliberately so most people say “ain’t worth it!” and simply give up.

Yes, of course. Just hassling gun owners. Same with these ammo rules etc.
I am pretty moderate on gun control, so some rules in place I don't have a problem with, but they are not concise, connected and easy to follow. You need to be on your toes in CA as a gun owner, not to break a new law you hadn't heard about. G |

Sadly, I still think it is done at a loss, meaning you pay for it as the gun owner and the general population still pays for it with their taxes.
What do you do? Move to Texas? ![]() G |
