^^^ that is Super Cool!!!
I've been watching a YouTube channel called "The Luka Cee Channel" and I watched one of his videos this morning from a few years ago where he highlighted the works of his friend Frank Bennett who passed away and there was a slot car that he had painted up to look like the real one. Good stuff and a very nice way to honor his friend Frank Bennett.

thanks Hobie, here it is with door decals.
Each decal is detailed and tiny.
Next a layer of clear to blend in the decals.
The O is for GTO.

My modeler friend Hutch is doing these too.
So we can IROC race identical cars.
Cars and liveries painted to match real cars and the lane colors.

My buddy has 200+ body molds so those 2 were my first picks.
I like the sound of that, IROC racing 917/30's and Kremer 935's.

Dang! Those are suh-WEEET!
The paintwork is fantastic, but...
Those decals really make the model. Nicely done!

Thank you herr_oberst my buddy Hutch did it all.
Surprised he could source all of the 1/64 scale decals.
Then installing them straight and true.
Modelers can make amazing things.

Playing and crashing a wheelchair bound special Olympics athlete model seems insensitive.
I guess sensitive that a toy company would recognize and honor the sport?

I knew that I had this 1/64 scale Mark Martin car somewhere, found it and took some pictures of the two cars together.

So, I wasn't satisfied with the Dale Earnhardt car so I re-made the roll bar padding and added more of it to make it look more like the real car. I also covered the interior rear panels with actual aluminum foil like the aluminum panels in the real car. I think I am finished with this one finally, lol.

Well, I got to looking at those pictures and didn't like how the padding looked on that horizontal bar, the padding was too long and covering up a corner gusset, so I fixed it.
...and I zoomed in on that driver's window to show how the padding has a texture to it.
I have a sickness,

These run as good as they look.
So time to get some adjustable throttle pot controllers to optimize.

Thanks, I used shrink wrap tubing on the shaft of a q-tip, (with one cotton end cut off), heated it up with a lighter until it was melting a little then rolled it on a piece of cardboard so that the texture smoothed out a little. After it cooled, I split it down the middle with an x-acto knife and put it on the roll bar.

Sadly no, I haven't gotten the cat wet yet this year but I do plan to do just that very soon.
16s are twitchy little beeotches, the 18 is a tank!!!

Agree 16 was a blast.
Back then I only had a 70 240Z to tow my 16.
Had a license plate frame on the 240Z I bought at the Hobie dealership.
It said...
Hobie Cat have you got it up lately?
