So I guess some people got vaccinated twice. Just in case.

In any event his comments have assured me that we don’t need to worry about the unvaccinated anymore. Everybody’s got the jab, Biden said so.

You really do suck at math doncha ;)?

350 million.

I had a typo in my post, so sue me…

It’s fixed now, you can quit worrying.

Hey, Denis, still looking for a FJ? It's a 62, last year made...

Your point is a lame one as is your internet prowess. I feel confident that the vaccination will protect me from getting gravely ill. The numbers back that up. All I can do is worry about me.

If you are confident in your decision, why does what I choose matter to you? I think I'm right, you should know you are wrong. Look at the numbers. Big ole goose egg in my corner, how about yours?

S : "Why don't you get vaccinated?"

P: "I don't want the Goberment telling me what to do! Dammit."

S: "It's just a vaccine , like for measles, mumps, and rubella and you probably already got that one."

P: " Yeah, but that one was Government approved!"

..and so it goes...

Here are a few things I simply do not understand:

- Why isn't the "science" of those who have had CV-19, either asymptomatic or with symptoms, better understood in terms of immunity? We were all told that the actual rate of CV-19 was many millions more than were symptomatic. This is from January: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/lasting-immunity-found-after-recovery-covid-19

- Why would anyone get the vaccine without first getting a blood test for CV-19 immunity - I did. I have an odd immunity system where vaccines are concerned so I followed "the science" of me and worked with my physician: we decided to get the blood test. I am delighted I did.

- The "numbers", the "science". It has been a mess, a hodgepodge of crap from the beginning. I can bring up ten videos of contradictory statements from Fauci, erroneous data and, frankly, complete lies in terms of CV-19 origin, morbidity, etc.

- Death rates from CV-19. Anyone have reliable numbers? No one does because we do not know how many people, like me, that have had CV-19 with zero symptoms. I may have had a runny nose.

Here: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/covid19/mortality-overview.htm

So why, if you are 30 and below, get the vaccine? If you are so inclined at least get the blood test first.

- Does the vaccine work? I read the numbers, the percentages, but how do they know? What are the methodologies for gathering the data, the health of those vaccinated, etc. One poster here wrote that they filled out a form during the drive through vaccine. That passes zero sniff tests on relevant collection of data for analysis. Zero.

- If it does work, why are the vaccinated worried? Can anyone here explain that?

Sorry for the long post but nothing about CV-19, including the "Delta Variant" has made any sense from the beginning.

Oh, close the f'ing border if you are remotely serious about CV and the variants.

Close the border. now.

Most of this can be answered with, this is how science works. You are presented with something new so you look for similar things that you already have knowledge of and use that as your baseline to try and sort out what this new thing is.

Some of your assumptions based on prior similar things will prove correct, some will not because again, it's not exactly the same as the thing you already have knowledge of.

It's called research and sometimes it is trial and error.

As an individual in the business of high tech **** this is concept you should not have trouble with.

Do the engineers in your company get every new innovation right every time or is there RnD?

The numbers are easy, there are 600,000 more deaths that coincide with the timing of the pandemic than there should have been. No one debates that there have been massive excess deaths well beyond any other anomaly in the last 100 years. In case anyone forgot the last time we had comparable excess deaths was also a pandemic.

And that was me that "filled out a form" but it was not a form we filled out at the drive through. I was very clear that it was data collected by our county health department prior to getting a spot for da shot.

I made no mention of what data they collected so your assertion that it does not pass the sniff test is really quite frankly a load of crap because you have zero clue what information was or was not gathered so I'd appreciate you not twisting that into some validation of your position because it's nothing even close.

And in case you are curious, it was a complete multi page questionnaire asking for all the same historical personal and family medical history that your Dr makes you fill out every single ****ing time you go in for a checkup. I hate that ****, it's like dude, my dads been dead 15 years, his medical history is not changing from the last 100 ****ing times you've asked me these questions. In short, there was not really more they could have asked for.

That was all reviewed to determine where your spot in line was or if you even got a spot.

I don’t care what happens to you. This is a discussion however and you chose to participate. Feel free to clog up the healthcare system when you eventually get the Delta.

It matters because:
  • Healthcare costs are shared. That's how insurance works. Part of what I pay goes to paying the healthcare costs of people who get sick even when it is avoidable.
  • There are people walking around who are immunocomprimized, either due to age-related conditions or because they have MS, RA, are cancer survivors, etc. Yes, most who can be vaccinated are, and those that need to are likely still wearing masks (and getting criticized for it by ignorant people) but people without vaccinations continue to be spreaders. Just look at the recent stats from Florida.
  • Every unvaccinated person is a petri dish for even more virulent strains of the virus. That's just how viruses work - if you don't eradicate them, they mutate.
Not getting vaccinated is just selfish and, because this country was founded on shared sacrifice and working together for the common good, un-American.

Nothing any of us say here will change minds or influence behavior. I only hope that people who don't want to follow government suggestions and get vaccinated also cease hypocritically following all other government suggestions like stop signs, red lights, speed limits, seat belts, paying taxes, etc.

...

So cute. You think that this virus doesn't mutate in a lab. ..or a vac'd person.

The narrative is slipping…

Seahawk 08-07-2021 04:11 AM

Good lord.

I am not a CV denier, anti-vax or anti anything. My wife and daughter are vaccinated.

Nor was I questioning your filling out a form to get the shot...I am sure you were diligent and truthful.

My point remains, not everyone will be, nor is there a standard form across all States. I filled out a very cursory form online for my MIL, very few questions, and then took her to get her shot. There is not a relevant data base on earth used for scientific purposes that relies on questionnaires filled out by untrained individuals without supporting evidence.

Sorry.

Concerning CV. Of course it is real. My point is, again, that percentages of people that had CV-19 is completely unknown because it can be asymptomatic and there was no large scale testing or sampling of the greater population. We simply do not know how many people actually had CV-19. We could remedy that.

What I have found completely unnerving is the absolute lack of preparedness and initial response to CV-19, as well as the coming variants. That and the absolute politicization of CV is a low water mark in this country.

If the CDC was unsure, they should have made recommendations and then modified them as we learned more.

This should prove interesting.

The bottom line is that is at least 600k people in the USA who if they could do it over or had the chance, would wait in line for a month to get one of the vaccines.

javadog 08-07-2021 09:03 AM

Well, if the two choices are death or get the vaccine, it would be stupid to not get the vaccine. On the other hand, if the choices are get the vaccine and degrade your health, or don’t get the vaccine and make it just fine through a Covid infection anyway, I guess which one I’d pick?

Sure.

What amazes and frustrates me is that well over a year into this and we are still mucking about...interesting that the CDC video above is gone. Do the three vaccines work? I want to see the numbers.

Again, I am not anti anything, I just want, for the love of god, an honest assessment of what was done right, what was done wrong and the fixes we are putting is place.

How is that so f'ing hard to understand?

So, where is Plan A and B? Why are there not N90/N95 masks for everyone, free? Why is the border open? Why have we not restricted travel to and from the US? Why are we not instituting nation wide blood tests?

At least.

I’m sure all those who spent days and weeks in hospitals on vents wondering if this was how their story ended would be right there in line with them.

island911 08-07-2021 09:10 AM

I like how you ignore the people who regretted getting the vaccine, or giving it to their child.

lol, why?

Because as we’ve seen this country has way way too many conspiracy theory Q anon Fed hating freedom loving “patriot” murica nutbags to even begin to consider that stuff.

Close the borders for everyone except me cause you can’t restrict my freedom.

Free masks? That was actually a thing. USPS were to deliver a 5 pack to every residential address in the US back in April. A plan that was killed by the White House because it didn’t fit with the then CIC’s agenda to “downplay” the virus.

Nation wide blood test? Sure give it a try, see what happens when the Bill Gates invented COVID so the global elite illuminati cabal could inject us with trackers and control our lives crowd gets wind of that.

I would also like to see the assessment, not an unread ask but again, as we are seeing in real time every day any change to previous statements or comments causes a **** storm of allegations of incompetence and deception

Short answer, too many of our fellow citizens suck

chrismorse 08-07-2021 10:23 AM

My 9 year old grand daughter has covid

My 9 year old grand daughter has it. She has no sense of smell. Fortunately she is showing no respiratory distress, but this scares the hell out of me. I am very concerned.

My step daughter had a LONG protracted case of it until she got the vaccine.

My stepson was almost hospitalized - very difficult breathing.

If, as viruses do, it continue to develop/mutate, we could have a variant immune to our vaccine and/or much more lethal.

The longer we piddle around with this, the more chance we give the virus to get worse. Given the practically nonexistent rate of vaccination in poor countries, this virus is going to be with us for a long time. You need look no further than the latest - DELTA.

Yes, there are a lot of changing mandates/directives, etc; Yes, there are a lot of different opinions and some ridiculous, well nevermind...

We need to help get this under control.

I would very much like to hear ANY constructive ideas.

pavulon 08-07-2021 11:09 AM

Declining vaccination should go with a 4 week assignment working in a covid ward.
